Minnesota Vikings admit MISTAKES in postseason evaluation

The Minnesota Vikings were very honest in their postseason evaluation of what went wrong in 2025, but it did also appear that they may be hedging at the Quarterback position. Is it possible at this point that they don’t even know their offseason plan? We do know this, J.J. McCarthy will have some form of competition in 2026. What should the Minnesota Vikings do with Jordan Addison after another run-in with the law? Cut him, trade him or keep him? Judd Zulgad from Purple Daily is joined by Chip Scoggins from The Minnesota Star Tribune for Purple Access.

  1. Biggest mistake was trusting a unproven qb. should have signed Rodgers. Vikings was a way better team then Steelers but they made playoffs cause of better qb play.

  2. If KOC cannot give up play calling and hire a legitimate OC, This team and McCarthy will go nowhere and KOC and Kwesi will be on the street next January.

  3. I just posted almost this same thing someplace else it is probably better placed here
The only thing wrong with the QB situation other than McCarthys injuries is O'Connels insistence on running his full offense with what was really a rookie QB with EXTREMELY limited real time NFL experience. The problem was as much O'Connel as it was anyone. ALL Pro receivers dropping catch-able balls didn't help either. So what he throws hard. Elway was famous for it.Not an excuse. Also. O Line for like the 12th straight year being sub par also didn't help

I digress. Remember how Quirk Cousins used to talk (complain) about how difficult an offense it was to learn. And he is a seasoned QB with an alleged high football IQ, with a bunch of years of real playing time in the league.
And O'Connel was expecting McCarthy to know his offense automatically with practically no legitimate playing time in the league??
Even EXTREMELY gifted children aren't taught and expected to know in any depth quantum physics right from the start. which is essentially what JJ was expected to do.

Annnd is it just possible some of those injuries could have been avoided had O'Connell simplified the offense enough so that JJ wasn't having to think to much about this super complex offense AND his foot placement, leading him to hold onto the ball too long?

Like O'Connel liked (past tense) to say. "organizations fail the QB more often than QBs fail the organizations". Notice he hasn't been doubling down on that statement as of late? I'd like to see Judd Remind O'Connel of this statement and ask O'Connel if he failed JJ? I say the latter. Hands down.

On another note. I blame (and have for years) the Wilfs in large part for the lack of post season success with this refusal to do a proper rebuild. Using their logic why not just keep refurbishing the Metrodome? I'm (also from and living in N.J.) in the trades myself enough to know that they know as developers that sometimes you have to raise the building and rebuild to have a better one. do they really want a championship? Or are they happy and content to be just good enough to keep people interested. I was arguing they should have traded off the pieces (Smith, Hunter, Theilan etc) while they still could have gotten something significant for all of them back in the COVID 2020 season when from an entertainment standpoint. They didn't have to worry about putting fans in the seats and had a captive audience at home.

  4. I knew the Vikings were putting too much faith in McCarthy. He was my biggest concern coming into the season. Not enough reps to know how NFL ready he really was, and any player can suddenly get injured. Vikes were fools letting both Darnold and Jones walk away. And when you think about it, Carson Wentz just might have saved both Kwesi and KOC's necks.

  5. The Vikings best start interviewing Defensive Coordinators. Either will call Flores bluff or get any an early start replacing him. Kwesi has messed up every draft and just blamed everything on JJ. This is the weakest leadership I have ever seen. Fire Kwesi.

  6. I just don't trust this leadership the way they dropped the ball on so many levels this season, I'm just gonna have to see the results but I have no faith on their decisions
