Toronto Blue Jays contract offer to Kyle Tucker now known

  1. That’s a great offer. It’s hard to make up for the Dodgers and Mets blowing all evaluations out of the water.

  2. Look at Kyle Tuckers’ career. How did get to this point? He just isn’t this good, not even close.

  3. All major sports should have a ceiling on contracts, most all major contracts are detrimental to the team. 80% of all major contracts find some way to be injured and who does that hurt, not the player they still get paid, it’s the organization that takes the hit

  4. These overpaid short term deals gotta stop cuz this offer was actually really good

  5. They were gooning over him and Bichette but now that they signed some where else they suck 🤣🤣🤣

  6. $35M AAV is very reasonable for Tucker and good on the Blue Jays for not chasing the Dodgers & Mets into where it eventually ran to.

  7. 10 yrs????? When will these clubs learn?? Look. I am all for players getting their money, however , look at all these long term contracts , 99x out of 100, clubs regret those last few years. Overpay on average annual value, or include opt-outs but these long term deals ending in the late 30s are an albatross

  8. I’m so glad the Jays didn’t get Tucker. Especially at that price. He is not that caliber of player.

  9. Why does this matter now?!

We didn’t get him. Is knowing the terms, or that we “put in a big effort” supposed to make us feel better as Blue Jays fans?

… oh, it’s Heyman. That explains everything.

  10. People need to understand that now that Tucker who is good but not great, has now raised the price on all player good and bad.

Say what you want, but eventually the game will become too expensive for most fans driving down profit for all teams and hitting those who are smaller the hardest.

Pretty soon the WS and playoffs will just be team scrimmage because you might only have 16 teams if that left that can afford to pay the players.

  11. Even that’s probably a bit of an overpay. I would have avoided any long term deals and certainly wouldn’t offer more than $30 million a season

  12. Can’t even be mad. Would not have wanted at 38 year old Kyle Tucker on my team making that much

  13. As a Yankees fan who went through this with Soto last year, Jays fans shouldn’t be upset. Your team made a good, solid offer, but someone else made a bigger one.

Just hope your team is willing to pivot and use that money to make some smaller additions now.

  14. And yet he CHOSE to play for the Dodgers!!! So who cares what the Blue Jays offer was??? He didn’t take it……

  15. Everybody seemed to know that 40 x 10 would be competitive. Surprised they didn’t just go the extra mile.

  16. Barring significant injury or decline, it seems plenty reasonable that he could get 6/90 in four years if doesn’t opt out. Premium price for his peak years with upside of another 20-30 AAV contract when he’s 32.

  17. I’m no fan of the Tucker deal but paying Bo B $40+m this upcoming season? That seems even worse! I said that about Bregman last winter though and he was pretty helpful to the Red Sox, so maybe I’m just a Baseball Fudd.

  18. yeah seems dodgers figured out how to use their huge rev, sign these tier 2 players to huge short term contracts. and not be stuck with a tier 3. player for 5 years after that. rinse repeat. they want to win as much as possible during their current window. Yankees on the other hand…
