so after I watched the recent stretch of games the clippers have been on and more specifically kawhi and how he has been playing recently I decided to rewatch game 1 of the western conference finals in 2017 against the golden state warriors led by prime KD and Steph and you might know san Antonio were up by 20 points in oracle in the third quarter and well on their way to a comfortable win away from home the warriors looked helpless and the spurs looked absolutely unstoppable with kawhi's amazing performance on both ends until Zaza did his thing and got kawhi hurt for the rest of the series which led into the warriors coming back in the forth and easily sweeping the spurs

my question is what do you think would have happened if kawhi played could he and the spurs might have beat the greatest team of all time or do you think the warriors would have came back and if you think kawhi and the spurs might have won do you think they could have beaten the lebron led Cleveland cavaliers in the finals.

for me I really believe the spurs could have beaten the warriors and I think they wouldn't have had any problems against the Cavs and I'd say in that time kawhi was the best player in the world

  1. Ancient history at this point. I’m glad Wemby WANTS to be a Spur and isn’t a flake like Leonard.

  2. Leonard would’ve left 2 years later anyway, and we would’ve lost him for nothing. I doubt we find ourselves in a better position, and tear down earlier, which doesn’t lead to Wemby and more likely no real prospect at a championship

  3. As awesome as that game was, I don’t think we could’ve hung with them in a series. Everything was going perfect in that game and that never happens for a whole series. I think if Kawhi stayed healthy it was still a loss in 6 or 7. That warriors team was just too much.

  4. People are wondering why they’re being cautious with Wemby, haha. Kawhi is 34 and still an excellent player; you want generational talent to last as long as possible.

  5. I think he would have left anyways. Stars never leave situations where they have a championship team catered to them, but he wanted to be back in LA regardless and was stuck in an awkward spot. The quad injury opened his window of opportunity to leave.

  6. his shenanigans really did set us back because most of the guys we brought in after duncans retirement was to help him in the long run, because ginobli and parker where obviously on the decline and out the door, he was so desperate to play in LA he left the team he won a ring with, but the way his career panned out the last decade who cares atp.

  7. It all worked out perfectly. I’ll give Leonard this, winning a chip and dipping out of toronto all within one season was the dopest shit ever.

  8. Call me a delusional homer but I believe with all my heart we beat the warriors in 6 and cruise to our sixth championship. We were dominating them before that injury

  9. Firmly believe we win that series in 6 or 7 and get to the finals without that incident.

  10. I do believe that season we led the Warriors in every game by at least 15-20 points except for one game. Spurs definitely had a a good shot at beating them but we’ll never know

  11. Every time I think about this I circle back to no way were bad enough to get the number 1 pick and get Wemby or Castle for that matter. All worked out long term. Go Spurs Go!

  12. Yup but what if Duncan wasn’t injured in 2000 playoffs what if we traded Kidd for Parker what if Manu don’t foul Dirk in 06 what if Manu didn’t break his arm in 2011 what if Duncan was in on that possession in game 6 2013 finals what if they call the right thing in game 2 vs okc in 2016 lot of what ifs in Spurs history

  13. Bigger what ifs for me would be if they called the foul for Brent Barry, or the time keeper did his job for 0.4.

  14. Zaza visiting SA is an automatic death sentence for him, the last time good basketball was played, now it’s all 3s

  15. The way this game went down still pisses me off to no end. Really? We couldn’t hold onto that lead? It was embarrassing. And yes we win the series if he doesn’t get hurt
