[Montemurro] Expect to see fewer Cubs spring training games on Marquee this year. President of business operations Crane Kenney told Tribune it’ll “probably” be less than double digits for 32-game spring slate and definitely fewer than past ST. “A really hard decision.”

  1. What’s the reason? What else are they going to play? Prevagen commercials or reruns of the compound?

  2. Insane that Marquee doesn’t -at the absolute bare-minimum- just automatically make a point of broadcasting every Cubs game, from the start of Spring Training, until they win it all or are eliminated.

I’m sure we’ll see high schoolers calling their school football games instead, which isn’t the worst thing, but like, c’mon. It’s supposed to be a Cubs-centric network.

  3. WGN creates one of the nations strongest and most loyal fan bases by showing all games in a single spot for free despite putting a shot team on the field for most of its history.

Crane Kenny – “I’ve got an idea. Let’s do the exact opposite!”

  4. Uhh Ok. I dont need to have a subscription during spring training. Why even have your channel.

  5. The CBA is going to eventually have to figure out TV. At the top is the Dodgers with an unlimited ATM, on the bottom 9 or so teams with nowhere to go, now apparently even us who are in the top 5-10 saying we can’t afford to broadcast but 1/3 of spring training. Not sure what MLB can do to NFL-ize their TV rights but they’ve gotta figure out something different.
