Dodgers are MLB’s real Evil Empire

  1. The Dodgers had 2 weaknesses this offseason: bullpen and RF. They had Teo playing RF when he normally plays LF. They struck out on Soto last year (lefty, high OBP, plays RF) after offering him 60m over 10 years. So offered Tucker 20-40% of the same deal at 57m over 2-4 years. He was the final missing piece in their lineup (lefty, high OBP, plays RF). So the real question is prime Tucker worth 20-40% of ten years of Soto?

  2. Owners rolling their teams out with $80mil-$100mil payrolls are the evil empire

    FTFY

  3. After the trolling post 2020, NLDS collapses and Lance Lynn. I’m loving these tears man.

  4. The Yankees never even came close to approaching what the dodgers are

And a lot of people forget that when we started spending big in FA we stopped winning

For the dodgers the strategy actually works

  5. As an 80s baby growing up watching the decades of failure but pure joy of just watching, I just miss kcal 9 free tv and my boy Vin. And cheap ass tickets. Same fun ive always had even if were winning now. Cause I still have to wake up and go to work the next morning.

  6. All the MLB had to do was actually punish the Astros and it all could’ve been avoided

  7. Yeah, no. We need a Salary Floor instead of a cap. Force these lazy fuck owners to care about winning or sell their fucking organizations.

  8. While I agree that there’s a bunch of cheap owners, I don’t think you can ignore that Los Angeles is the entertainment capital of the world and the ROI from being there is insane. The albatross contracts the Dodgers give out are probably made back within a year’s revenue. Kinda hard to say a smaller market team can make that kind of money in that short amount of time. Hell, the Mets and Blue Jays who aren’t small market teams have been spending like crazy too and I doubt they’d make money back as fast the Dodgers.

  9. Maybe I’m biased, but I think about some of the Yankees teams that seemed like they were just throwing cash at any and every big name. They ended up without a clear identity and with a bunch of unlikeable guys that often seemed disgruntled and were just there for the paycheck. It was easy to hate those teams.

The thing with the Dodgers is that, while they do have an absolutely obscene payroll, they’re not like some teams that spend just to spend. They identify an area that their team can improve, target a player that will perform on the field and fit in with the team, and then just make sure money is not an impediment to signing him. Somehow despite the way they have assembled the team being on the surface obnoxious, they have a roster of mostly very likeable guys. It’s easy to cheer against the organization, but it’s really hard to dislike the individual players.

  10. Honestly, this isn’t a Dodger’s problem. They are operating completely within the bounds of the leagues rules.

This is a MLB problem, as they have failed to properly establish a framework for a competitive league. Arguably, their most important job.
