Wow, Sam Darnold has come a long way. He went from being a bust in New York to leading the Seahawks to the NFC Championship Game.

I was told he was a bad QB who would never get past “seeing ghosts.” Just goes to show how ass we are at developing young QBs. I don’t know why anyone would expect anything different regardless of who we draft.
He sure did. He’s not the first qb to struggle early in their career and have a second career after bouncing around and accruing experience. I’m happy for him. As Troy Aikman says, more teams fail young quarterbacks than young quarterbacks fail teams.
Was good since panthers..consistent. growth..and good offensive coaching can support u to grow. This is that product. Time and commitment and good coaching. Something that’s severely lacking with the jets for over 25 years
Don’t forget, he saw ghosts and had mono the same year. Let’s just realize we are a snake bit in franchise.
Not just that, he looked like he was on his way to being a journeyman backup. He was supposed to backup McCarthy when he arrived in Minnesota. McCarthy got hurt, and the rest is history.
I wish him nothing but the best
Cool story, Woody sell the team
Sam Darnold winning the Super Bowl would probably cap the most Jets season ever.
I’m still shocked that Minnesota cut him loose after last season! Jets? I can’t imagine woody understanding how stupid in reality he is!
Sell the team Woody.
Jets are no good
He was never a bust, we’re just a pathetic franchise
“Leading” doing some heavy lifting here. This is almost the same situation as Sanchez in the 09 times. He’s in a great situation and he just has to not mess it up. But it’s great he’s gotten that opportunity and he is in a place where the media are incredibly team friendly and the national perception is very positive, especially with how many Seahawks fans populate the national media and always speak glowingly about them. Like in most things, it’s much easier to thrive in a positive environment that doesn’t micromanage your failures!
I don’t think he was ever a bust. I think the Jets gave up on him waaay too quickly. He was 20 when they drafted him and they put him out there immediately. Then the guy they hired to work with dies in a tragic accident. The head coach gets fired the next guy doesn’t believe in him and his offensive stunk. He had no one to throw to or any run game.
But you guys still booed him out of the stadium 🏟.
He cooked the DC who released him two games in a row. Small sample size, but he probably feel great about it
He’s not a bust. Jets were the bust. They were supposed to stick with the kid. Weak Teams give up on QB’s and Coaches if theres no immediate success.
…and a lot of us wanted Joe D to keep him and build around him, and were told we were stupid for wanting that
Super Bowl Bound
As Bill Belichek said “ The only team that didn’t like Darnold was the Jets; they drafted Wilson to replace him.”
Not sure about a 49ers problem. They developed Purdy pretty well. The Vikings made the wrong choice, but they had some good QB play with Cousins for years. Panthers have been in the same boat as the Jets for years.
Darnold straight up said he didn’t know how to watch film correctly until he went to the 49ers. The Jets have not had the right guys in place to develop QBs for a very long time.
The beard turned him into a man… I always liked Darnold we just never supported him with any wr or te or oline. Wasn’t fully his fault
And our disaster coach went to the playoffs too. The real issue with the jets runs very deep.
People overlook that he didn’t turn into Peyton Manning, he still was near the top of the league in INTs.
What he is, however, is someone capable of leading a talented team. That is something we never gave him but something we also desperately need.
Go Sammy D!
I don’t know why any Jets fan would root against Darnold. The team failed him, just like it’s failed the fans. He’s a solid QB and a solid person. He deserves the success he’s had over the past two year. I would be thrilled if he got a ring. Turning his career around after being dismissed as a bust says a lot about his character.
Not a bust in my eyes. Never given the tools to succeed here
Fans were quick to turn on him because it was so damn bad during his tenure
Could not be rooting for a guy more. Never wanted the Jets to give up on him. Go get a ring Sam.
He was never a bust! Mismanaged!
Joe Douglas really looked at Darnold and was like “Nah, we need to get Zach Wilson in here.”
I wish him and Leonard Williams the best. Its not like they left on bad terms. Im just glad I was on the keep Darnold, draft Sewell bandwagon. Drafting Zach Wilson set this franchise back a decade.
I remember when “Keep Sam, Draft Sewall” got you downvoted. Oh well. Good luck kid.
He had no chance Adam Gase, zero skill position players and a Swiss cheese O Line. But Gase was enough to doom him. And the Jets are making the same mistake with Glenn. Keeping him to ruin all this draft capital and cap space. Stupid is as stupid does.
The fact that chris johnson hired gase to develop sam darnold is proof that even when woody dies were still fucked for at least another generation
If Tom Brady landed on the Jets his first season, he would have 0 rings.
