This was from Nov 1st 2006 vs. the Kings in LA at the then Staples Center when I lived out there. Pens won this game 4-3 in OT on a goal from rookie Evgeni Malkin.

  1. Ohhhh maaannn. I remember staying up to watch the ticker at the bottom of the screen to see if Malkin scored. I was so happy when he did because he tied an NHL record going back to the first year of the league (1917-8) by scoring in his first 6 straight NHL career games.

    I believe that streak included his punching the glass goal vs New Jersey “shades of Mario”. I always think back to those few weeks as the renaissance of penguins hockey. Like after the shitty post-Jagr era, the team on the ice finally looked like a competitive team
