  1. I became a baseball fan and Sox fan as a 9-year-old in 1977, so I only got to see him in his last two seasons, when he was hampered by his knee injury and when he was past his prime.

    But for some reason he became one of my favorite players.

    RIP.

  2. In 1972 he pitched in 49 games, all as a starter. He started 22 games on three days of rest and 25 games on two days of rest and won 24 games. In those 25 starts coming off of two days of rest, he averaged 7 2/3 innings, and threw 4 shutouts.
