  1. Now… package Shaw, Wiggins, Long and another pitching prospect to Detroit, they’re being idiots, for Skubal. With an eight year extension already on the book ready to go.Then extend Nico five years $100 million.

Then send Jameson Tallon to one of the 10 teams he would want to be traded to? A contender. Get some prospects back. Freeing up money.

Trade Happ to a contender getting some prospects freeing up money.

Shock the world and bring Tucker back ?

Pie in the sky but what the heck 😎

  2. No trade clause seems a bit extra since they outbid RedSox by 10M but the deferrals brought total present value down to a reasonable amount of 5 years 150M & 30M AAV!! NOT AN OVERPAY

  3. You guys don’t see it because you are all blindsided by national narrative that Cubs are cheap!!
I see this coming even last year after they traded Cody!
Because I see Jed’s plan and also agree with him!
He is trying to build a long contending team, not a one year gamble go all in team!! That might be most people like, but not me and Jed!
They don’t want to pay multiple year tax, even they all along have no problem paying the tax as long as they are at WS contending level!
Last year was not! No matter how many guys you sign, no one knows how PCA Busch Kelly Boyd gonna play! They got them not because going for WS, rather to make playoff!
Now in 25, they went under tax, so I see they have no issue going over in 26, cause next year a lot of salaries come off the book!
So 27, they will be reset under tax again. Then by 2028, it will start a window of 5 years of contending WS, which they will go over tax multiple times if needed!
If you start going over tax in 25, you will likely pay over 100m luxury tax from 25-28 if you want to build a team contending WS, and then when 27, 28, the team have realistic chance of winning, your hands would be tied !
So the reason everyone are so surprised is because you don’t see the Jed’s plan and you don’t believe the team will spend, which I always believe after seeing them went for Chapman and paid tax in 2019,2020, and paid Swanson, plus in the sweepstakes of Ohtani, and Bregman!

  4. The pivot after losing out on Imai to getting Cabrera and Bregman is a hell of a way to salvage the offseason. Happy for Cubs fans. Go Rockies.

  5. Great deal by cubs. Bichette is even more injury prone than bregman and has never played 3b. Plus he wanted 10 years and $300m.

    32-36 are productive years.

Tuckers stats is what he has to replace, not what you think Tucker can do. His stats last year were average.
