Sometimes. The Mets NEEDED someone like this. A contact hitter who has a high motor and personality. The Mets traded away alot of clubhouse energy. So the Blue Jays do NOT need that.

Two quick points not mentioned regarding the Mets: Brett Baty is still there, coming into his own as a multi position or DH player, and also the fact that the Mets are LOADED on position and pitching talent in the minors.
He was said to be happy with the Phillies offer… then Mets offered this deal and he took it
I’ve never liked the idea of compensation picks, it’s free agency, teams shouldn’t be penalized because a player didn’t accept an offer from another team. No reason the Mets should have to forfeit anything due to signing a free agent. Same when Alonso signed with the orioles, it’s not the new teams fault the player didn’t want to stay with their old team
honestly, i'm kind of mixed on this move, i do agree its very chaotic.
Here some things to say
1. we have NO idea how he'll be at 3rd
2. how about their other younger studs? what will they do, go to AAA?
im excited on this postseason, especially about the mets moves and if they will make another free agent splash signing.

You’re misunderstanding the opt outs, if Bichette opts out, the Mets actually have the option of giving him an additional $5 million and blocking it and keeping with the team, or allowing it to go through. So really, yes, Bichette can give himself a $5 million dollar raise, but essentially this is a 3 year deal if the Mets choose for it to be.
Ahh yes, Mets decided to get another infielder when they still need to fix outfield and pitching problems..

Bichette is a good pickup, but he's not loyal to the mets.hes using them to get big bucks when he's a free agent op out. Loyalty was Alonso with the mets.hope pete hits 58 home runs

The Mets have buyouts to his opt outs; they can keep bichette all 3 years if they want.
Gotta see what this Mets defense looks like. I do like bichette’s ability to hit all over the field as well. Mets infield should definitely be better than last year. I do think they need a centerfielder and another catcher. Alvarez is not bad but too injury prone.

You make it sound like the Mets parting ways with Alonso, Nimmo and McNeil wasn't their own doing (5:29). That was the plan of the offseason.Diaz was the only one of the four who they genuinely wanted to retain.
