The Dodgers just signed Kyle Tucker and made their insane payroll even more insane than it already was, and now fans and even players are starting to feel like there is no reason to even try to compete with this loaded team. In this video we discuss all the implications that the Los Angeles Dodgers insane spending has on Major League Baseball, including how the potential upcoming lockout might change because of their deferrals, their ability to go past luxury tax thresholds and more.

Can u mention the Angels please. Because the owner is literally a cheapskate and cares about money in his pockets
Am I trippin or will big tv deals come based off the product you put out??
For example nba and wnba are both professional leagues but we all know the bigger contracts from tv deals go to the NBA because it’s a better product that more people want to watch. More views mean more money and if you don’t have a good product worth watching why would big tv deals come? Still comes down to teams spending money and putting forth a product worth watching.
How many championships does Bryce Harper have again
Your such a drama queen.
Dodger fan here.
The dodgers have lost they Gawd dam mind with this. In what world is Tucker worth almost as much as ohtani???. Dude better play a different position each inning and start speaking French or something cuz now way he’s worth that. It may not be bad for baseball but it sure is bad for the dodgers. They won’t be around for the next 10 years at this rate and if I was the other teams id keep my trap shut cus when the opponent is making a mistake you let them
Don't be mad at the Dodgers be mad at the cheap owners that don' t spend. LA might have more money but teams like the A's, Pirates, Rockies… have more money they don't want to spend
It’s funny how it’s always you got to spend money to make money, unless you’re an MLB owner
So I just realized that Fuzzy, along with other baseball content creators always argue against implementing a salary cap because they argue that they don’t want players to have their earnings capped. However, all these content creators push for owners to spend more money, but limit the deferred contracts. So basically, only want to hold owners accountable in the next CBA. They paint the owners as the “Bad Guys” and they want to tell owners how to spend their money. Why don’t we hold players accountable??
Very Very Wrong
Los Angeles Dodgers following Rules & Regulations Perfectly ⚾️🥃🔥
Did you seriously just suggest that a salary cap would result in the players getting MORE money? What the hell kind of stupid logic is that?
Yes, players of other majors sports might get a few % points more of the overall revenue — because their franchises don't have a quarter of the overhead when it comes to minor leagues/development, staff, etc. There is absolutely no way in hell that MLB players will get MORE money if the league tells the top-10 teams that they have to spend less money.
What, exactly, is the problem with deferrals though? Like you mentioned, EVERY team can do it, and most of them do. Some of them do it as much as the Dodgers. Don't be a sourpuss because Ohtani wanted to defer 95% of his contact in exchange for helping the franchise win championships. He would have done that for whatever team signed him.
In reality, deferrals are a player choice, not an ownership choice.
Watch the Dodgers NOT win their division. Something's going to go wrong there.
It would be fine if the dodgers didn’t have exclusive TV rights that force them to not have to share revenue. Advantage for 1 team out of 30
Stop crying 😢
Cheap owners should get penalized if a team is bad for years and are not making the improvements necessary to better the team they should either be forced to sell or be penalized by the league
The end came when he let the Astros keep that championship
Dodgers spend money with solid players. Dodgers look in Japan and in Mexico and whatever player in the world is making noise. So why are teams mad??? Well maybe they should start looking outside the box like the Dodgers. You can’t be mad at what works! They have been champs back to back, and why? Because they spend and invest on solid players. It is wha it is. 💙
Whatever teams from al and nl come last drop them to triple A. You'll see every owner start spending more because who wants to give sponsorship to a team that's not marketing in the MLB? They'll lose money if they come last hence they'll start buying better players to keep them from dropping…
When you give rich people tax breaks or free money, it never goes to the places it needs to. Why is this hard to understand?
The only small market team worth a damn is the Rays internal team and the rest are micro managed, I’m glad the dodgers tv deal isn’t giving them money to spend on BS
It all started with the accusition of Freddy Freeman, and when Dave Roberts took the helm.
Everything else kinda fell in place.
there should be a trade deadline in offseason up to last day of winter meetings and free agents should not be long makes offseason boring
The player should be able to defer the salary for tax implications. That would level the field for teams that play in states with high or low income tax, but the team would still be taxed on the AAV.
I like the salary floor, but I see it with a soft cap similar to the NBA. The downside with the cap is that players rarely stay with the same team for long, and the trade deadline is boring.
Astros cheating and winning saved baseball.
Before that baseball was boring. Its super stars where retired or retireing.
But when the astros cheated tje mlb became a soap opera. Top of mind for years. Even in the minds of casuals.
We live in a DRAMA time. Drama will sell. Winning isnt enough. Drama is needed
You have some really good takes, I agree with you, floor + no cap + new regulations to make sure owners are actually trying to win and not getting by on technicalities.
Yankees ruined baseball since acquiring babe Ruth for a pack of beans. Dodgers then now
We need both a floor and a cap. The more the players make the higher the ticket and concession price is for the fans. It's so expensive to go to a game now. It shouldn't be a luxury to go to a baseball game with your kids.
And to answer the question. I believe more of the blame is on cheap, small market teams for ruining baseball.
Harper is the G.O.A.T. 😂
Salary floor at $150M, salary Cap at $350M, cap defferals at 10% or 20% but when that 10-20% starts getting paid it counts towards your salary cap.
