The Bills fired Sean McDermott

  1. Fire Stefanski for McDermott plz

Explanation below because of all the downvotes jeez:

Josh Allen was still in college when McDermott first made the postseason with Tyrod Taylor. People also forget Josh Allen was a joke the first couple years of his career, but McDermott stuck it through and actually developed him. Despite being a defensive guy as well (and Buffalo has had some pretty damn good ones), he’s consistently identified talented offensive minds to work on his staff from Daboll and Brady that have taken their offenses to the next level in the passing and rushing game.

Super Bowls are difficult to get to and win. Andy Reid lost 4 NFC Championships before he was fired and found his way with Mahomes in KC. McDermott has a proven track record with a career 66% win percentage. He’s a good coach.

  2. Could either look at this like it’s great the Falcons got their guy before a way better team hit the market, or if you’re a big McDermott guy you might feel like atl missed out.

  3. Glad we have our coach sorted and don’t have to compete with the team that has Josh Allen as QB

  4. So as a Braves fan, his consistent playoff failure gives me PTSD. I am fine not getting McDermott.

  5. We locked in stefanski right away, very smart. The spots opening up are only getting better.

  6. Exactly why the falcons signed Stefanski quickly. They knew that if they wait they will lose both stefanski and Kubiak and be left with nothing.

  7. Good for them, but we did not need this guy. Josh made his career and will make his next HCs too.

  8. Stefanski (while he still has yet a chance to “prove” himself here) seemed to have more of the checked boxes needed to be our HC.

    PRIOR HC experience
    Offensively based
    Had winning seasons before
    Willing to retain Ulbrich

While he might not have been the ideal for everyone, I think he provides the best IMMEDIATE chance for success that can be prolonged into sustained success.

His running game calling has always been his best asset as a coach, but after signing and having Baker play well it seems he’s been leading a team with a different QB almost every week. Let’s see what he can do with a top defense and hopefully one qb playing all year.

  9. Stefanski probably would’ve been a strong candidate for them. His tough demeanor seems to fit the northeast, and the Bills would likely rather go offense than defense.

I would guess this is Mike McCarthy’s music, and I’d guess they’d pair him with a veteran DC, maybe Jim Schwartz if Cleveland lets him walk once they hire their HC.

  10. Brandon Beane needs to go out the door for the absolute dog shit WR squad he’s given Allen over the last several years too

  11. Wow, they just went 13-6 and if not for a brutal close call in OT, they’d be in the AFC championship game. Plus, they’ve made the playoffs 8 times in 9 years under McDermott and have averaged 13.5 wins over the past 6 seasons, yet he’s been fired.

As a Falcons fan, it’s hard to even comprehend how that level of success is considered a disappointment or underachievement. I see someone comparing it to the Braves, but this would be like firing Bobby Cox during his run.

  12. Josh Allen has a 4 turnover meltdown in the playoffs and the coach falls on the grenade.
