[Russini] Talking to NFL executives around the league about Buffalo’s next head coach options, the name that keeps coming up is a familiar one, a Buffalo native and someone Josh Allen loves: Brian Daboll.

Go get your guy! (And keep him out of Philly.)

Firing McDermott for Josh Allen turning the ball over a bunch only to hire Daboll would be hilarious. It’s like the AFC East can’t have two good teams, Pats are good again so the Bills have to implode as is tradition
Honestly would be a hilarious example of failing upwards but since he vouched for us with Harbough, I am rooting for him
Buffalo, please go get Daboll, for the love of everything.
Anywhere but Philly works for me.
I would much rather this then him being an OC for Philly
Good luck with that.
That would be ideal because I don’t want to see Daboll in Philly next year lol
The Bills hiring him would be high comedy.
Do you think the Falcons regret signing Stefanski with McDermott now available?
That face in the thumbnail is the same expression I had after reading this.
Hey, it would means things “worked out for everyone”. Hope it happens
Sure why not!
Would be kinda funny, but given their offense had the most success under him, I actually wouldn’t find the idea too preposterous. Dumb? Yes. However, not unexpected.
I’m genuinely surprised that Pegula actually did it. I think seeing the Pats quickly turn it around under Vrabel had some influence.
I can see Daboll returning as OC but him becoming HC doesn’t address the issues with this team, like the defense or player development issues in the WRs room. Beyond the clock management, Daboll stunk in developing players drafted and blew it with multiple assistants on defense (although I suspect the Bills would retain Babich in this scenario).
Terry Pegula is a cheap fuck, so he probably would like to hire Daboll since he wouldn’t cost much.
Also Bills fans acting like if Harbaugh would have taken their job over the Giants job is hilarious. The Bills are almost the exact same situation he just left in Baltimore. And again, Pegula is a cheap fuck and would never pay him what the Giants did.
We may joke about a medium Pepsi, but Pegula wouldn’t even have given that! He’s lucky he has the most blindly loyal fanbase in football for his team.
I love Dabs but that’s delusional

I would love this for Dabes ngl
I think it’s clear Daboll is a good OC, but not a good head coach.
Lmaoooooo this is definitely going to happen, I think Dabes is going to be successful
Daboll and a solid defensive guy like Saleh would win a super bowl
Omg yes please lol
That’s the first thing I thought of.
It’s wild to me that a team fires a coach who Went 98-50 over 9 years. Can you imagine if the Giants were 98-50 over 9 years? I’d be ecstatic. Maybe the folks in Buffalo are forgetting the dark days of JP Loss-man, Trent Edwards & Ryan Fitzpatrick. 6 years with Allen and never a losing season. Allen throws 58 ints in this last game and they fire the coach.
Buffalo doesn’t need a new offense. Allen needs skill players so he doesn’t need to play hero ball and a defense they can trust to keep a lead. Someone on Reddit NFLv2 made a good comparison between Allen and preSB Elway. Allen needs help not a new scheme or his old OC. If anything they need a defensive minded HC.
Kickers and bad officiating gets good coaches fired. McDermot is like 50 games over .500 as their HC… No one gets jobbed more than the Bills in the playoffs. Can the Bills office point to specific cases with McDermot where they can say “well, that’s just bad coaching”? Their team is fundamentally sound. Players are prepared and know their jobs. The offense is innovative yet conservative. A solid mix of run/pass. The defense may lack big plays but they make enough good plays and dont give up. The team makes great in game adjustments and can never be counted out in the 2nd half. Also, they make great off season adjustments too. They compete, they win, they have fire and passion. And they all would run-through a wall for McDermot. I don’t know who they think they can bring in that would do better…. but one things for sure… they sure can do a LOT fucking worse.
I can’t imagine them looking at Daboll like the guy after his time here…no way
I think Buffalo’s problems have a lot more to do with roster construction than coaching.
And he’ll thrive at it. Honestly think it got the shaft this year. Shane Bowen gave up so many damn games.
Beane’s management of the wide receiver position has been inadequate, contributing to the team’s struggles in the playoffs.
I’m actually very glad we wrapped up the deal with Harbagh before the Buffalo job became available.
Wherever Daboll goes, his success will be directly tied to whomever his defensive coordinator.
Will be fun if he can get Josh to a Super Bowl – and lose to the Giants, of course.
I’m so nervous we’ll be Belichick’d
Yall know just like Saquon and DJ seeing success the minute they leave, Daboll would bring them their first SB
