  1. Sure, you could argue the Bills “underperformed” by not getting to the Super Bowl under Sean McDermott. The firing just feels premature to me. I think he should’ve gotten one more year based upon a bunch of factors. Of course none of us knows what happens behind closed doors though. But I keep thinking this firing might have something to do with the new Bills stadium. Maybe the owners think they “owe” it to the fans to get a new coach just as the new stadium opens. It feels fishy to me. But I think if I were the Bills owner I would’ve called Sean to my office, started with small talk, then said, “Look, your record is fantastic. Josh Allen’s Super Bowl window is getting tighter though. We NEED to get back to the Big Game. How about this: we give you one more year and let’s see how it goes. But if we exit early in 2026 I might have to make a change even if I don’t want to.” Then see how Sean responds. If he accepts some responsibility I shake his hand and say, “Let’s go get ‘em in 2026!” If he doesn’t maybe I consider firing him.
