[Langs] If Bo Bichette starts at 3B & Jorge Polanco starts at 1B for the Mets on Opening Day, the Mets will be the 2nd team in the last 100 years to start 2 non-rookie INFs with 1 or 0 gms of experience at that position on Opening Day. They’d join the 1948 Dodgers.

Bo Bichette at third is going to be so interesting to watch.

1948 Dodgers were Jackie Robinson 2B and Billy Cox 3B
Good sign of things to come for the Mets ?
So, how did that 48 Brooklyn team turn out?
How do people find out stats like this?
Did they just research this from the instant they signed Bo?
Yall might not love Clay Holmes with a bad infield

Man, is this going to be fun to watch! I love lowlight reels.
EAST COAST DODGERS BABYYYYY
Jackie Robinson had never played 2B for the Dodgers before 1948, as he was a 1st baseman his whole rookie year.
Billy Cox moved to 3B for the ’48 season and would remain a primary third baseman the rest of his career.
Not that big of a deal considering they’re probably better suited at playing those positions than the ones they had been playing before
Hope polanco is good at digging throws out of the dirt
Seems destined to go great
What could go wrong?
I’m here for this.
Polanco is also a stopgap/DH for the Mets, since Ryan Clifford is an actual 1B prospect who should see some playing time this year.
The Mets have like 5 options at first. If Polanco doesn’t work, they can try Vientos, Baty, Ryan Clifford, or someone else.
And remember, the theme for the Mets this season is run prevention.
Bo Bichette throwing lobs to first with Jorge Polanco trying to dig them out is going to be peak Lolmets comedy.
Would think that a subreddit full of people who watch baseball this much would actually know something about baseball, but the minute the mets come up everything goes out the window
Mets this offseason: we are laser focused on improving the infield defense
Also the Mets: sign Jorge Polanco and Bo Bichette
So they have a non-3B with a terrible arm known for whiffing it wild to 1B who often was bailed out because his 1B teammate had wild flexibility for a guy his size and would dig shit out or leap for it, throwing to a guy with no time at 1B? How flexible is Polanco? How’s his groin durability? I don’t envy him.
I understand moving Bo off SS due to mobility/range. I do no understand moving him to 3B to force him to make longer throws.
Remember run prevention was actually priority lol
Stearns is next level smarts.
lol errors
The fuck makes somebody think of this and then actually go find a stat to validate it?
Jackie Robinson played multiple sports at high levels. Playing a new position was nothing to him.
1 or 0 games? Polanco has seen one career PITCH at first base and didn’t even handle the ball.
