Hope no trade happens but seems it is still a possibility.

  1. He played well for one half of a game. Why would that be enough to shut down trade speculation? Just because people here were ready to throw a parade over it doesn’t mean the FO can suddenly ignore the fact that he still plays fewer than 50% of games and is looking for an extension.

  2. I wouldn’t be surprised. Since he doesn’t have an real agent the trade rumors have to be coming from the front office so it makes sense to trot him out there to get better trade value.

  3. Of course, looks like this is Kleiman vs Ja at this point. I don’t really blame them for trying to trade him, but as I’ve said, I would absolutely not accept any of the trash packages that have been suggested.

  4. That’s just Chris’ speculation, but I feel bad for anyone thinking him having a single good game after missing the last handful just changes everything.

  5. That London game was amazing and Ja’s injuries this season don’t seem to be caused by reckless play, but he’s still missed over half the games this season and with starting level pg play the Grizz record is significantly better. SPJ and Ty injuries were unfortunate, but Herrington wrote that it’s all but confirmed that Ja sat out the Berlin game on his own accord.

I always thought the trade decision for the team would be in the offseason/summer since he’s still got 2 years after this one on his contract. Maybe there’s something signaling more value for trading him now vs summertime. I don’t like any of the packages that weve seen so far. Maybe one of these teams thinking they need him to contend is willing to offer more.

Personally id like him on the team to finish out the season and get more than 5 mins of Ja/Edey. 40 games doesn’t necessarily mean a whole lot durability wise though unless he can play 80-85% of them. Thats the true issue here.

  6. Herrington is really low on the Grizz. He may have his sources, but that remains.

Last week he was on 92.9 saying to tear it down to the studs. Suggested trading Edey and Coward, who he called “maybe the 7th best rookie this year if we’re being generous”

Edit: see below, I’m wrong. Also don’t agree…

  7. If someone wants Ja Morant from us and we end up with…

    – A young center who can atleast be potentially be a good rebounder, solid defender, and screen setter.
    – A fill in PG or one to take a swing on.
    – Two first round picks (even if protected or low first rounders).

I would take that in a heartbeat.

  8. I will take Chris Herrington word over any one else covering the Grizz. He is almost GOAT status as a Grizz Columnist and Reporter.

  9. Yeah I’m laughing at bro in the replies asking for a source. Dudes the most in loop beat reporter we got

  10. the fact that fans just randomly think one game would instantly fix everything is insane. have you guys followed the NBA in the past decade? listening to this CVS today I was appalled that they just acted like everything was fine now. i don’t think Ja will be on the team after the deadline.

  12. I believe this dude over the other randoms across the country not close to Memphis

  13. Playing one game well still leaves the streak going that he hasn’t played seven straight games in three years

    Nothing has changed.

  14. These hating folks are desperate to believe what Chris is speculating to be true. Chris lives in Minneapolis, his connection to the Grizzlies is no longer a part of the team because that person is a part of another basketball organization.

  15. Loved Ja man.

But this team is built in a wrong way. Ja and Trip are just flawed.

Fox, maxey, hali, sga doesn’t require a lot to be a effective. But Ja needs that big man. Jaren needs another big too which is crazy because with the amount of money he’s getting you will expect he should be the best big we have.

  16. Ja is gonna Ja. What does that mean? It means he’s still gonna complain when he doesn’t get calls, sull about it and stop playing hard, whether he’s in Memphis or somewhere else. He’s still gonna settle for threes, even though he has no business taking them. He’s still gonna be a liability on defense, and teams are gonna continue to pick on him. And he’s still gonna be more fragile than a leg lamp, wherever he goes.

Memphis has seen enough. They don’t need to see anymore. This dude is damaged goods.
