  4. We might have just watched Jimmy’s last NBA game, or at least his last game as a top player. Rehabbing from an ACL injury at 36 is no joke.

    Regardless of how things ended with him this is horrible.

  5. I love Jimmy Butler, and I’m in no way celebrating this injury despite how he left. This is a terrible sign for his career and I’ll always be grateful for what he did in Miami. One of my favourite players of all time, and this is a horrible tragedy.

    At the same time, this is exactly why we didn’t sign him for $60M x 3 years. GS was looking good and Jimmy was playing so well, but this is the risk that the Heat weren’t willing to take. There was never a question about his talent, but there were always looming concerns that he was one bad landing away from crippling our team for years to come.

    I wish he didn’t get injured like this, but no matter how cynical the view, and despite it being in bad taste to say it out loud right now, it does vindicate our FO.

  8. The only mistake the FO made was waiting to trade Jimmy. They knew they didnā€™t want to give him another max, just trade him in the summer and not mid-season.

    Paying older players a premium is risky exactly for this reason.

  15. This is why I will never hate a player for doing whatever it takes to get a max contract. He made the smart choice by forcing a team to pay him.

    Never hated on him for trying to get it, just hate how he did it and the way he disrespected his teammates and fans.

  21. Yeah after watching him land I had a feeling it was the worst. Sucks for Jimmy truly.

    This is exactly what the Heat FO feared would happen in his older years. I canā€™t believe it actually happened against the Heat but withholding that extension seems like it was the smart move.

  22. Hope he can recover and make at least one more good run at the Finals. Sucks for someoneā€™s career to get cut short by injury, and I hope this isnā€™t it for him.

  26. Couldnt have happened to a better guy. He wasnt worth the contract when he signed it and now looking back he definitely wasnt worth it.

The 146 million extension starting in 2023 we paid him, when everyone was clowning him after a first round exit , after the ā€œstupidly locked inā€ comments, when the entire league was saying his contract is an anchor; worse contract in the leagueā€¦ THAT was the bag. Enough with this stuff.

  29. This sucks so much, despite the Jimmy saga he gave us one of the best memories as Heat fans so for his seaosn to just end like that is so…. hopefully this is not career ending.

  32. Warriors will either blow it up or double down. If they are doubling down, trade Bam for Kuminga+Moody+filler and all their tradable first round picks. Those future ones will be very valuable.

  33. He has a guaranteed contract and will go into the Hall of Fame. Heā€™ll be alright. Itā€™s not like his team was going to go anywhere anyway.
