TRADE CHIPS: Giants INTERESTED in Freddy Peralta | Miguel Andujar or Adam Frazier low RISK fits
The Giants may finally be circling something real. Jon Heyman reports San Francisco is among the teams checking in on Brewers ace Freddy Peralta, a controllable frontline starter with a manageable salary that fits just about everyone — including the Giants. We break down what Peralta would actually cost, why Milwaukee might move him, and whether this signals a shift from patience to action. Plus, the Cody Bellinger standoff drags on as the Yankees wait and luxury tax penalties loom, forcing the market into another staring contest. We also dive into the Giants operating deep in free agency, potential fits like Miguel Andújar, Starling Marte, and Adam Frazier, and the uncomfortable question hanging over everything: are the Giants quietly treating 2026 as a gap year? The signals are mixed — but they’re getting louder.

No penalty’s for signing Cody Bellinger not QA eligible more than once
Well signing Peralta makes a buttload more sense than acquiring a replacement for a perfectly good 2B
Giants have no interest in winning
The wins last yr were on the backs of the pitchers early on along with those 1 run games. I don’t trust that outcome a second go around with the current staff. But we shall see I guess anything is possible. To me though from a analytics perspective they win maybe 75-79 games. I don’t think they get to playoffs as a few other teams like Pit improved quite a bit.
Talking about the giants interested in players is a broken record our tight ownership is happy with these low cost players and playing 500 ball! Tired of hearing that the giants are looking! BS!!
I think giants are talking about 2B as a smokescreen- and they trade for Steven Kwan
The Giants are going to do what they always do – spend up to a certain point and then stop at the pay wall. The only thing they'll do before the season starts will be minor moves. They have some talent – they will need a couple of their younger players to step up and contribute.
I keep thinking about players these days and that their loyalty is not to a team or fans but to the biggest bag they can get. I understand money talks. My concern is LA is giving away millions like they’re printing it. Giants front office is not spending anymore, a trade?, sure–sounds good but I’m not convinced.
Andujar isn’t a bad call ngl 👀
Eldridge is the only Giant in the MLB Top 100 Prospects, so he's the one everybody's going to want in a trade.
I'm also concerned that they're making Vitello's job VERY hard in year 1. How can a manager showcase his talents if they give him a roster that has one of the worst projected bullpens and no depth on the bench? I like the Adam Frazier shout. Plays solid defense and doesn't strikeout a lot. He would be a perfect backup or platoon if Schmitt doesn't work out as the everyday guy.
can the giants ever go after “high risk” acquisitions?? you know the type you’re allowed to make when you’re is such a big market
I think Bob just didn’t get the full potential out of the roster. That being said I think we needed to add pitching. I think that will be our biggest problem
A good meter to a prospect’s value is the card market and Eldridge is not on anyone’s radar.
Giants just Suck! Horrible ownership! To have a mediocre team but 4th richest franchise. POS greedy ownership and kiss a… Apologist Fans that dont demand anything more or different. S/O passionate fans that want winners. Were not the Raiders
Andujar is interesting, nice idea. I also feel that Schmidt could break out this season, and that Drew Gilbert has a chance to stick. I understand why the Giants don't want to pay big bucks – or give up serious prospect capital, especially for a 1-year rental – to block these spots. No matter what they do, it's not going to overtake the Dodgers, and the only way to do that longterm is to maximise what they already have – THEN pay the big bucks if/when the right fit comes along.
