If Beltran gets in so should A Rod and Manny, cheaters gonna cheat. Hell the two big ones for me are Utley and Jones put them in! Great ball players.

  1. then take away Beltran’s 2017 stats, when his Astros and so many other teams were caught using an illegal sign stealing scheme

  2. Beltran rumored to be a primary mind behind the Trash Can banging scheme, which can be directly linked to a WS win, seems like as big of a deal breaker as a player with a steroid connection.

I’m OK with Beltran getting in, but can’t do the mental pretzel to understand why he’s not in the same boat as the steroid guys.

  3. Carlos Beltran was basically the mastermind of the worst example of cheating in decades, and the cheating resulted in winning the World Series.

But 7X MVP Barry Bonds doesn’t get in for taking roids to get stronger as an old player…

If the players voted instead of a bunch of old nerd writers – then all the best guys would get in.
A bunch of people who never played baseball are deciding who’s the best at it 😆

HOF is a hall of nothing. Just a few old nerds opinions on who they like or dislike.

  4. The steroid era is now breaking the HoF. Don’t get me wrong, I think both Beltran and Jones are HoF worthy. However, because of steroid players from that era that were exposed may/will never get in. This opens the door for hall of very good players to get in.

  5. Even if one came to the conclusion that A-Rod / Manny deserved it less because of PEDs… *Andy Pettitte*?!?

  6. Manny got caught multiple times for PEDs. ARod used PEDs to help his on field performance and also got caught. Beltran’s part in the Astros scandal didn’t help his performance on the field. He also didn’t get caught until after the fact. On one hand, his part in the scandal is important because why else would the writers claim that the character clause matters? All three cheated the game considerably. On the other hand, I have a feeling Beltran’s cheating is overlooked because it didn’t affect his on field performance really at all.

  7. Yeah that’s why the HOF is a joke, one kind of cheating is ok but the other is terrible, I don’t get it lol

  8. Bobby Abreu should be in the Hall especially with the advanced metric focus these days.

  9. If Jones gets in I have a /50 Cyber Stats auto of him that becomes significantly more valuable lol

  10. The bigger issue is that in the past no matter who you were if you fucked up or the people around you fucked up enough then you weren’t getting into the hall of fame (shoeless Joe, Pete rose, and all steroid users.) The astros scandal has been swept under the rug and brushed aside by rob Manfred and MLB its honestly insane.

  11. It’s simple, there is only one rule: the voters decide. It cannot be entirely logical, never will be, at least not with this set of rules.

  12. The writers (who vote) liked Beltran as a person more than they liked arod or Manny. He gave them interviews, Beltran also seen as a “company man” ding ruffle feathers and buddied up with owners and gms..

(Did you guys actually watch the game?, Beltran is absolutely a HOF’er. Even factoring in the actors garbage bin scandal)

  13. Yeah, the HOF voting is such bullshit. Most of the voters are media that did not play. They hold some faux notion that the steroid era and any player with any association with performance enhancing substances is bad. There are literally known cheaters, womanizers, and racists in the HOF, so any integrity in sports and the HOF is pretty much a fantasy. Anyway. Manny and A-Rod should definitely be in the HOF, as should Barry Bonds. Forget those massive years, the rest are still Hall worthy.

  14. I’m guessing voters feel that Beltran was already a HoFer and only cheated at the late stages of his career when he was a utility player. Meanwhile, there’s no clear indication of when Manny and ARod started using PEDs, and they so they don’t deserve the benefit of the doubt.

But if you stand by that, then you probably should’ve voted for Bonds and Clemens.

  15. Pettitte ahead of Manny and Arod. Are we all forgetting he cheated and roided as well.

  16. Beltran cheated on the field in a World Series.
Manny and AFraud cheated in a bathroom stall.

David Ortiz also tested positive and nobody seems to care. It’s all a farce.

  17. Steroids helped save baseball. After the ‘94 season ratings were in the toilet. Americans were giving up on their national pastime. Then these monster home runs and guys out of nowhere started chasing Ruth’s and Maris’ records. Attendance spiked. People began watching again. I remember at the time thinking about PEDs but I didn’t care. Everyone came back to loving and watching the game I grew up with. Obviously in hindsight PEDs are wrong. But it saved the game. And Selig got the credit for it. He’s in the HoF today. But the guys who actually gambled their bodies – chronic usage PEDs are not good for your body – are now basically pariahs. Hypocritical. Maybe Bonds and McGuire and Sosa and Palmeiro should not be in the HoF. But then neither should Selig. All of the PEDs boats should rise and fall together. No special exceptions for the commissioner or because you helped break Boston’s 86-year drought.
