  1. Signing Belli, is awkward this year for a lot of reasons.

    1. Barger/Santander/Lukes lose playing time.
    2. Signals to Varsho that he isn't getting resigned
    3. The deal he is looking for will age poorly after 3-4 years.

I like taking him from the Yankees, I think he is an improvement for the lineup.

But personally, giving Barger the reigns and letting him prove himself further is good

  2. I believe that after Tucker the Jays were done. They obviously weren’t serious on Bo. They want to give Ernie the chance to prove himself at 2nd for a complete season. They’ll platoon Barger between the Inf and outfield and Santander is healthy and will play full time in the outfield as the 3rd starter. If he at least hits .265 with 30 homers we are set and have the best team in the AL. Go Jays !!

  3. Can Okamoto play left field, like be a regular left fielder, allowing the Jays to sign 3B E. Suarez? Both right handers, but Suarez could anchor the 5-6 spot in the line up with maybe Barger primarily protecting Guerrero in the 4th spot?

  4. ‪I could see Varsho putting up similar offensive numbers to Eugenio Suarez last season, and with gold glove defence, produce a 5.0+ WAR season.‬

  5. Who knows what's going to happen, but my feeling is that he's going to get something figured out with the Yankees. It almost feels like he wants to be there, but is waiting for the very best offer from them. He could be sitting tight to get one more counter offer from them, and now that other top free agents have come off the board, he could be looking for counter offers from other teams to use as leverage with the Yankees.

There's also another part of me that thinks now that Tucker has signed an INSANELY high AAV contract, Bellinger is waiting for a similar offer. Because of the Tucker contract, a world now exists where he feels entitled to get a somewhat similar contract of his own. Why take $30 million AAV (i.e. a supposed 7-years/$210 million) when he may think he's now entitled to get $40-$50 million per? It'll be interesting to see how it all shakes out, but if Bellinger is wanting an insanely high AAV, at some point the Jays are going to be out on signing him. They don't value him anywhere nearly as high as Tucker (no one does), and I can't see the Jays spending a nickel over $30 million per for him, and perhaps not even that much.

Bellinger would make our batting lineup and our outfield defence stronger, but I'm not interested in him at a crazy high AAV. Same with the Jays.

  6. Nick the Yankees dont play on artificial turf. Hard to say if Bellinger could play the bounce and everything at Roger's Center. Short of the Yankees not getting him I don't think he makes enough of a splash to justify the contract hes looking for. In my opinion

  7. Obviously the jays organization sees something we don’t, Bellinger would
Be perfect to replace Springer for seven years, that’s a perfect contract, Springer came in with the same years around the same age, Bellinger will be perfect for the jays I said it since day one

  8. THIS IS YOU ALL:
Springer signs at 31, a 6 year deal equivalent then to about 200 million today.
Bellinger is 29, wants 210 over 7, practically the same offensive numbers but better defense.
… and you all don't want Cody but loved the Springer signing??????
Last year when Cody was an FA – the common narrative in T.O was that Bellinger was always injured and wasn't that good of hitter based on his 24 months or so of injury play – then goes and has a better season (arguably) than Tucker. Bellinger would be your new Springer – what's to h@te? you have your replacement for next season, you are so desperately wanting this season!

  9. San Francisco and Blue Jays are the other two teams in on Bellenger … I like the 7/210 deal .. we lost the World Series because we didn’t have a top of the order lefty bat.
No need to re sign Varsho, his lack of production at the plate literally cost the Jays the World Series.

  10. Absolutely NOT! Bellinger IMO would make this team worse and more awkward rather then the seamless platoon game we saw last year. Nathan Lukes doesnt have to be traded. He has an option left. Same with Schneider I believe. Both could be sent down if im not mistaken.

The jays need more of a sure thing. Looking at Bellingers stats hes an INCREDIBLY inconsistent hitter , He started the year with the yankees horrible as well i think he was like .212 for the longest time to the point they wanted to move him down the lineup cause he wasnt hitting for so long. If you look at his years. Lets look at the last 5 years.
    2020- .239, 12 HR, .788 OPS Injury Plaued
    2021- .165 , 10 HRS , .542 OPS Injury Plagued
    2022- .210 BA , 19 HRS .654 OPS
    2023- Went to the Cubs – .307, 26 HRS .881 OPS
    2024 – Also Cubs – .266 , 18 HRS .751
2025 Yankees .272 , 29 HRS .814 ( Im pretty sure he started the year HORRIBLY like .212 and there was talk about moving him to the bottom of lineup because he couldnt hit. so to get .272 is lucky imo.

Where in there do you see a 30 MILLION player???Hes had one Good year in 2023, A solid season last year in NY and the rest have been Complete disasters or average. Signing him will be a teams downfall imo
For 30 M the jays are muchMUCH better off taking to the trade market and getting Marte or Donovan Then ALSO going to UFA and signing another player ONTOP of one of those guys for 15M

  11. If they're willing to unload years and money you'll get him. Otherwise he may just stick with NY. Not sure who else is searching but its not the mets after their Luis Robert trade.
