On Zubac:
“Ivica Zubac has been widely considered the Clippers best trade asset, with the Boston Celtics, Indiana Pacers, and Charlotte Hornets among at least five teams who inquired about the big man’s availability when the team was going through its struggles, league sources told ClutchPoints.
The Clippers, however, have rejected trade offers for Zubac, with a belief around the league that they’re seeking multiple first round picks in any potential deal for him. One team offered an unprotected first round pick and a pick swap in an offer for Zubac, sources said, but those talks didn’t go anywhere.”
We actually wouldn’t need to trade Simons to get Zubac because of our TPE. But if the Clippers value him it might make sense to include him in a potential deal
I always thought that the Celtics could try to turn Simons into Sexton if they express a desire to get below the tax. That’s obviously not what is going on with this rumor, but maybe a 3-way deal could be made
If we trade Simons for Zubac, could we possible see a White, Brown, Walsh, Hauser, Zubac starting lineup with Pritchard back to playing heavy bench minutes? That’d bring size to both our 1st and 2nd units and I think Pritchard could bring his efficiency back as a spot shooting guard like last year, instead of a sort of pseudo-facilitator/manager like this year. Pritchard’s assists are up a little but not enough in his current role. Could see that being a nice change for us and for him.
