While basketball wise, trading him did kinda suck. Knowing that I don’t have to root for this POS is overall a great thing and I’m happy he’s off the team. Shit like this is indefensible and would make me not want to support my team

  1. okiee i have a bachelor’s degree so now do i have Deni’s permission to say “Stop the genocide”?

  2. Okay, cool statement, are you going to make a statement about the genocide currently being perpetrated by the country that you love?

  3. Wish we got more value out of him, but other than that, I would trade him again. His fans, his community, especially that guy who’s constantly posting on Twitter and X everywhere MrBuckBuck it’s nice not to see him anymore on this sub.

  4. Unfortunate. He may be a great basketball player but he still needs a lot of growing up to do.

  5. right after he got drafted… before playing a game he went on a crazy social media rant, and it made me cringe pretty hard. Always stuck with me…despite pulling for the team. Felt like a PR nightmare at the time…in retrospect its a full on Global Nightmare

  6. So glad we got rid of this guy. Not to mention his stans that were so frustrating to have a real conversation with.

  7. What did he say that’s crazy? Do people also get mad at anybody representing the USA when they invade other countries and kill innocent civilians?

  8. I miss Rui a lot more than deni even if deni ended up being the better player.

  9. “Not everyone is educated”

My brother in Christ we watched your country commit a live streamed genocide on social media for two years straight with OUR TAX DOLLARS

Fuck outta here with that “if you’re not from the Middle East you shouldn’t have an opinion.” I bet your Middle Eastern victims agree with my fucking opinion that it’s a genocide.

I bet your ancestors in the 1930s and 40s wouldn’t have been like “IF YOU AREN’T FROM EUROPE YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE AN OPINION ON THE THIRD REICH ETHNICALLY CLEANSING ME”

Also, as someone who has a BA in History, framing the Israeli Palestinian conflict as an intractable ancient blood feud instead of a sheer campaign of European genocidal settler-colonialism is just pure hasbarist garbage.

  10. Yeah. He could be like alot of Americans and hate his country yet refuse to leave and enjoy the benefits of living there.

  11. Glad he’s off the team. Knew he was tone deaf from the jump. Anyone else remember when he said he learned English from CoD lobbies??

  12. I mean, it *could* be directed at American Jews like Shabbos Kestenbaum, who are much more dedicated to being Netanyahu’s mouthpiece than actual Israelis and hostage families

  13. Depends on what his position is. If he’s just an Israeli player who happens to be in the NBA, OK. If he advocates for denying human rights to Palestinians, then he deserves all the criticism he gets.

  14. People hating on Deni for being Israeli and not saying the “right things” are so full of it. Do we also expect American NBA players to speak out against the USA’s endless wars of the past 25 years and to bring attention to all the dead civilians in the Middle East? No.

Let athletes be athletes. And don’t expect someone to disavow their own country. Especially a 23 year old who has been playing pro ball year round since he was a teen.

  15. Comment section passes the vibe check for the most part.

Idk what this guy is spewing lmao. Sounds like he’s just malding

  16. That said, hating HIM just because he’s from Israel is wrong. It’s not his fault his country’s leader is an asshole (hell, many Israelis hate Netanyahu).

  17. Crazy how if you actually read the article, his point was to stop putting politics in sports.

Everyone trying to use politics as a way to hate on players/artists is beyond stupid. Kyrie’s still awesome to watch, Bobby Fischer’s chess games were incredible, and Kanye’s original music is still great.

Shoutout to the parts of the “fanbase” who are happy the team traded a player who may end up being the best player the Wizards ever drafted. Maybe Ted was right all those years to mortgage the future for the mediocrity of the play-in since y’all clearly don’t care about winning.

  18. Jews *in Israel* are protesting israel’s actions and deni living a privileged life in the US far away from it is trying to tell people that they’re not educated on it? No one would hate on him if he just openly said that he doesn’t support what israel is doing, something that even jews in israel have enough courage to do. Rule #1 of israel’s PR defense strategy is conflating criticism with antisemitism, which it isn’t. criticizing israel’s actions in palestine isn’t a critique on the “good things” in israel. He’s the first one that needs to be educated.

  19. Israel bombs children. Why doesnt he just say something like “bombing children is not ok”?

  20. This thread is literally a case study in what Deni was talking about.
Being Israeli apparently means you’re not allowed to be proud of your country at all unless you first recite a political confession script. No other nationality gets treated like this.
Loving your home ≠ endorsing every action of your government. If it did, half the league would need to apologize for U.S. foreign policy before every game.

  21. Anything but to be wrong with these types of people. And these types of people come from all backgrounds. Sad.

  22. Don’t listen to Deni. Continue to speak up the Palestinians being genocided EVEN IF YOU AREN’T FROM THE MIDDLE EAST.
