Astros prospects in the top 100 per Baseball America

pickin’s are getting a bit slim
Nothing new here.
This doesn’t seem ideal
So you’re saying we have a chance
They always underestimate our prospects but also, that cupboard is probably pretty bare
I mean lets get real here. The things out scouts have been successful on, are historically not recognized by these lists. abreu was not on lists before coming out and being a top 3 reliever in the league his entire career, nobody thought pena was gonna be that good, especially considering hes way older than you might realize, I used to remember the placements foe most of our stars the year prior to their show debuts, but its generally following that trend up until 2016
Well screw you too.
I’m not super surprised. Our top hitting prospects have shown some holes in their time in Triple-A and their cups of coffee in the majors. I hope we get some pitchers in the top 100 come midseason though as I think they’re getting overlooked (Pecko I’m looking at you) :).
I found it funny that Melton was ranked #70 yet wasn’t ranked in the August Top 100. Not sure what changed between now and then other than him not being on the Astros.
I can’t believe the Rockies have been shit for so long and their farm system is still that bad.
If ranking prospects was something objective and scientific then there would never be any busts or surprises. This shit is all just someone’s opinion.
I don’t give much stock in these ratings….the Astros system is blah blah blah….most of these are just looking at Bonus Babies rather doing a deep dive into the system.
For instance, Kevin Alvarez would have been a first round pick this year.
Take these with a grain of salt…..the sky is not falling.
Non-Astros fan here wondering what happened to Brice Matthews? He was on the list last season when he got a cup of coffee in the majors. I thought he might climb the rankings some.
Eh it’s whatever. This is basically a “look at my shiny toys” list but you’re not allowed to play with them. We’ve been near the bottom of that list for years yet have had the best decade out of all the MLB teams minus the Dodgers.
Got them right where we want them boys!
Finally lol
We know this story. No one has pumped out more homgrown unsung talent the last decade than Houston. And yet we’ve had the worst ranked farm system since 2020.
I am definitely shocked by this brand new information.
Can smith isn’t a prospect anymore?
Pretty normal. The Astros are good at turning lumps of coals into diamonds.
You hear that, every player in our Minor League system?! You all suck!
Very funny, OP.
Trade bait. Just ask the Cubs and now Tuckers in LA so who won?
our new farm director said these publications disproportionately value first round picks and signing bonuses, even if “worse” players have surpassed them in development.
The well has run dry
Dana Brown the great Farm builder
Ouch!😣
this is what happens when you are stripped of draft picks then trade away what you do have for rentals. can we have luhnow back, please? dana ain’t it.
I thought the Astros just got a “slap on the wrist”
