  1. 5 years/$162.5 million per Boob

    Passan:

Cody Bellinger’s deal with the Yankees is for five years and $162.5 million, sources tell ESPN. There are opt-outs after the second and third season, a $20M signing bonus and a full no-trade clause.

  2. If someone had told you that the Jays were going to make the moves they made before the summer started, we’d have been a little bummed about losing Bo but really happy with everything else.

It’s been a really solid off-season, and I’m excited about the team.

  3. Oh well, time for Santander/Varsho/Barger (Lukes, Schneider, anyone else?) to maintain a solid outfield. Still really happy with what he added on our rotation and bullpen

  4. I wasn’t particularly high on Bellinger nor did I think we had much of a realistic chance to sign him but it kinda settling in that the only real bat we added was Okamoto and to that end we also lost Bo … it’s a bit of a bummer.

  5. Can’t wait till next year when this sub thinks we’re getting 2 of the top 3 free agents again

  6. I don’t understand people who wanted Bellinger for any reason other than getting a dopamine hit. He is an average hitter when he isn’t play in Yankee Stadium.

  7. People are going to be disappointed but I think it was fairly obvious he was always going to be in New York.

  8. Yeah I have really struggled with this notion that they are happy with their lineup as is. So many guys stepped up last year and is not at all realistic to expect that kind of thing to repeat. Big miss not adding to offence, Bo’s bat is a big loss, so as of today this offence is not as good as last year.

  9. In my opinion, the problem for this team was never hitting, it was pitching. Ross made sure that this team got what they needed from that, which includes making the bullpen 10x better than last year.

  10. I didnt want Bellinger. I don’t know why anyone would. He doesn’t fit what we’re building here. Plus you guys have to look to the farm for what we have down there. RJ Schreck is a stud.

The only thing that concerns me is Santander’s defensive ability.

  11. The offseason started amazingly and has limped to a poor finish. That said, I don’t think Bellinger was ever TRULY in the Blue Jays’ plan.

  12. Only wanted bellinger to make Yankees suffer lol

Meh, they can have him. I’m really happy with the jays offseason.

  13. Scott Boras won this off-season.

These recent deals just make our signing look better imo.

  14. The end of the offseason feels like the ending of the World Series. Love the pitching additions.

Still convinced we need one more bat.

  15. The amount of doomer Jays fans is crazy. From the beginning of last year we lost: Scherzer, Bassitt, Bichette. We added Cease, Bieber, Rogers, Ponce, Varland and Okamato. Also while having a full year of Barger and Yesavage.

The hitting could be slightly worse. You have Springer who likely gets a little worse but I think you can be hopeful that Okamato is decent, Santander bounces back at least some, Giminez improves a little, Varsho plays at least 50 more games.

This team is better than the team that made the world series.

  16. Barger earned the 2nd spot in the order in managements eyes in the world series.
    Springer
    Barger
    Vlad
    Santander
    Kirk
    Okamoto
    Varsho
    Clement
    Gimenez
    Looks good to me

  17. I can’t believe im disappointed. Didn’t want him, but didnt want him to go back to the Yankees

  18. Not that it’s not understandable for someone to be bummed about the Tucker/Bichette/Bellinger situation but I think people are forgetting we still had a really, really good offseason. We got a big name star in Dylan Cease, a pretty big signing in Tyler Rogers, and a ton of low-risk, high-reward signings like Cody Ponce and Kazuma Okamoto. Not to mention Santander has another chance to be the 40-HR monster he was in Baltimore, and Springer is coming off of arguably the best season of his career. The 2026 Blue Jays might not have the raw magic that the 2025 Jays did but you’re crazy if you don’t think this team is going to be good

  19. While I’m not at all disappointed about not getting belli, it’s hard not to be a bit deflated over how this off-season went compared to how we thought it was going to go.

We’re relying on a lot of hopes in the lineup, which could be disastrous. Or it could go great.

  20. Front office could make up for this by prying Steven Kwan from Cleveland. Guy would fit in seamlessly with the Jays lineup.

  21. Genuinely Bellinger is not a significantly better hitter than barger is to warrant that contract for us. I get everyone is pissed losing out on Bo and Tucker but this was not the move to make for us.
