Peralta to Mets confirmed

  1. Wait what? I thought we were going fo have a youth movement in a few years, 2 of our best prospects are gone?

  2. I never doubted Stearns for a second (don’t look at my comment history)…LFGM!! 🍎

  3. If you thought the Mets were going to be conservative this offseason, you don’t realize Stearns’ position. He had a HORRIBLE deadline last year. Fans are FURIOUS after record attendance. You HAVE to win in 2026 and you have to win now, while at the same time, you had to make noticeable changes from the massive bust of a team last year.

Another near .500 season without the playoffs, coupled with a massive drop in attendance, and Stearns is out and Steve Cohen loses all of his goodwill.

He put a team that forces us to pay attention. We may not want to admit it, but this SHOULD be a playoff team and a division winner.

  4. **I heard Peralta might be open to an extension.** Prior to the trade, it was reported that Peralta had approached the Brewers regarding an extension, but they were unwilling to commit to a large deal. With the Mets, there is the potential for a long-term extension, which is considered preferable to simply letting him play out his contract and receiving a compensatory pick.

  5. I am torn on this one.

On one hand, I don’t think Sproat is a top line starter and Williams is a bit expendable, but Fredy Peralta has always been more of a #2/3 than a #1.

Myers is the real wildcard since he in theory could be the same or better than Sproat.

  6. Stearns finally filled a need lets goooooo. Snark aside this actually puts us back in contention with the Braves and Phils, Peralta and McLean at the top of the rotation is gonna be filthy

  7. Mets finally addressed their pitching & still some of this fanbase are bitching. I swear some of you would rather the Mets be a small market team that just plays homegrown players.

  8. Anytime he gives up a hit or a walk Im going full Captain Holt from Brooklynn 99.

    PEEEEERAAAAALTAAAAAA

  9. Now THAT is some good shit. Insanely good trade for us.

Sad we had no use for Jett as he might become a stud.

  10. I don’t wanna prospect hug, but I hope Milwaukee treats those two well. Sucks to see them go, but I think this is a good move for this team.

  11. Jett was completely blocked and I liked Sproat but didn’t love him. It’s the Brewers so they’ll turn those two into an ace and the PCA of second base. We kept Tong and Baty tho so I think it’s a solid deal

  12. once they put mauricio into the re-education device and tell him to start being yordan alvarez and stop trying to be jose reyes we’ll really be cooking with gasoline

  13. Gonna hate this deal if peralta leaves as a free agent next season. 1 year of him is not worth Jett.

  14. As much as I hate giving up Williams, this was a massive deal & automatically legitimizes the Mets as title contenders. We now have McLean & Peralta as a 1-2 punch at the top. Getting myers as a throw in helps with much needed depth.

Have to give Stearns his flows for how he’s handled the last month of the offseason. Yet, some fans will still complain and be miserable….

  15. As a Brewers fan..it sucks, but Freddy was always going to be dealt. But getting Tobias as well is crazy and a huge W for you guys.

  16. Sproat was ya know pretty good ya know and had potential ya know but ya know if you have a ya know chance to ya know get an ace you go for it ya know?

  17. Im on board with the Robert move but I don’t like this one as much. Felt like we had serious potential with Sproat and Williams. And I’m not sold on Peralta.
