[Mae] Passing along a message from 2x All Star, Bo Bichette:

  1. I’m still so torn up that his epic game 7 blast didn’t lead to a victory. It would’ve been perfect. The swagger he had marching out of the batter’s box is unmatched.

  2. I mean it was *your* choice to not return here Bo lol you weren’t pulled away or traded

  3. One Jeff Hoffman slider away from being World Champs and his homer being the second biggest in franchise history šŸ’”šŸ’”

We’ll miss ya Bo, that homer, that single to score Vlad from first in game 3, and so many more

  4. Sincerely, Publicist. Kidding…all the best to Bo but I think we all knew he wouldn’t be back.

  5. I just don’t like the pretending that he wanted to stay. We knew he was leaving, he knew. Why did he need to act like he wanted to ā€œplay with vladā€ his whole career?

  6. I love Bo and will look back on his career as a Blue Jay fondly and I’m glad he’s acknowledging the fans’ love for him. The only thing that leaves a sour taste in my mouth is the dance he did with the media and the fans about wanting to stay and be a jay forever and win the chip with vlad. Looking back with what we know now it seems like that was never really fully truthful and I hate that we believed him so hard.

  7. Eh. I like Bo a lot but for a tenrue of 7 seasons, this is about as vacant as a ‘to the fans’ message can be. More power to him, but I don’t think he really cares that much lol

  8. I am going to miss Bo. I am still amazed we have let him go. As the message says – we have literally watch him grow.

Proceeds to vigorously shake head again.

  9. I really loved being a Blue Jay, and wanted to spend my whole career here …. But I also really wanted $47 million dollars to play for 1 year

  10. I’m gonna miss him a lot, but I was turned off by his rationale today: He said the move was about winning, but that’s clearly not true

    1. The jays were one bounce away from winning the World Series. If that Ernie hit gets down, it’s over.

    2. This was against a Dodgers super team that NO ONE else was competitive with over the past 2 seasons

    3. The Jays have gotten noticeably better this offseason, especially in pitching, but also with Okamoto.

    4. He goes to a team that missed the playoffs

    5. And with that team in the NL, it means they likely face the Dodgers even earlier, making going back to the WS much less likely

If he loved the city has much as he said, he should be honest. He did it for the money, or because he likes New York. He didn’t do it to win.

  11. Bo knew he was leaving for a long time and we did too.

I’m forever grateful I was able to watch him, him and Vlad made me care about this team again when they arrived. But this is the most generic ChatGPT’d “thank you fans” letter I’ve ever seen.

Very neutral on this but whatever

  12. Honestly, I don’t even wanna hear this shit, fuck off Bichette. How do you go all the way to the world series and lose in that fashion only to leave…he didn’t really want to be here, I wish him nothing but failure

  13. yeah get outta here bud. non genuine write up and he doesn’t care about toronto at all. he always acted like he hated this team

  14. I wish him the best and I’m sad he’s gone, but I also never really thought he’d stay.

  15. “Damn you, Bo.

First time you ever gave me reason to cuss ya.”

-~~Rooster Cogburn~~ me getting choked up for the first time since the signing.

(edit- and I mean for getting me choked up, not the leaving thing lol)

  16. All the people saying “his heart wasn’t in it” are just so delusional. Bo loved being a Blue Jay, but business is business. It’s their passion, but it’s also their livelihood and job. If we all had families, we’d be doing our best to ensure we capitalize on this unique opportunity to provide for them for life with zero worries. He set his price, the Jays weren’t willing to match it, and it’s just as simple as that. Let’s not be parasocial about it or get weird and personal. Dude ensured he got the best employment agreement possible. That’s all. He loved his time here and he is not obligated to extend out to us and say these things. He could’ve given boiler plate, but this has meaning behind it. Appreciate it, and those that attend his games in Toronto this season, show him love. Don’t be the asshole that chooses the low road.

  17. There was no way in a million years the jays were going to pay Bo more per year than what Aaron Judge gets.No matter how long the contract was.Good for him for finding a team that was desperate to get him like the Mets.

  18. Hurts he didn’t re-sign, and also trying to fully divorce myself from game 7.

Sucking it up. Team is still great. We go again. Let’s just fucking go. Play ball!

  19. He’s gone so please let’s not do Bo this and Bo that all season long. Let’s focus on the team we have and winning the World Series this year !!

  20. I genuinely believe that with his injuries and poor performance over a few years he lost his voice in the clubhouse. It always felt as if he beat to his own drum too, and honestly when you get hurt that much at a young age it doesn’t bode well for the future.

Either way this message feels so hollow, which honestly fits to his personality these past few years and I think shows why the Jays didn’t really want him back.

Just my opinion of course, but the vibes with him for the past few years has seemed off, and I think management felt it too.

  21. The Front Office has made multiple moves to find his replacement, a large portion of our fan base have been debating for months about him not being worth x amount of money, or only valuable at y position and now were sour he’s gone somewhere else???? We didn’t prioritize him as integral to our future and someone else handed him the keys… No bad blood

  22. “Dear fans. I had to leave so I could be super mega extra rich rather than just super mega rich, sorry.”
