  1. If he was traded against his will it probably would have been a warm reception

    If he made an honest effort to work things out with the leafs and couldn’t it would have been a warmish reception

    He didn’t leave on good terms despite the team making a genuine effort and basically stopped short of saying the fans suck and the knights have a better chance………. yeah that’s not going to be pretty

    And note I’d rather we didn’t emulate the islanders and just leave it all in the past

    Overall I agree with Woll I just don’t think many will unfortunately

  22. Listen. We scolded the Islanders for YEARS about booing JT. Their captain for NINE seasons. Now we’re all gonna be hypocrites by booing Marner who WILL go down as one of the best Leafs we’ve had for a while. It’s inevitable but man is it gonna be embarassing and shameful. The whole first half the season all I’ve been hearing is “We GoT rId Of ThE wRoNg GuY”. Now watch how quickly we turn around and paint ourselves as complete assholes. Sure he don’t leave in the best of ways. But dude, it’s hockey. People get traded. Not everyone wants to spend their entire careers with one team. I know I’ve got about the same thickness of skin as him if it came down to reading hundreds of comments about how I suck. I’d leave too. Toronto has gotta be the absolute worst franchice in the league when it comes to the media. Of course the guy went to Vegas. I don’t see a reasonable explanation to demonize the dude. We’re gonna make complete fools out of ourselves the same way the Islanders fans did. Hypocrites.

  23. We play them again while rested and they are on a back to back. Usually the NHL fucks us over but we got lucky with that one. We have to hope they beat Boston and then come to us tired and unmotivated haha

  31. I’ll be at the game on Friday and honestly, I don’t know how to feel. Part of me doesn’t care, and part of me wants to boo. Don’t think there’s a right or wrong way to feel in this scenario.

    Overall, I’m thankful for the good times.
