  1. Going to the game tonight. Hate that the only game in Minnesota is a B2B. We win this one and I’m fully on the host game 1 of the playoffs train

  2. I fucking love this team. However, sometimes it feels like they just don’t know how to check or play physical?

  3. So the Quinn Hughes package was pretty significant….

Let’s say a Werenski deal happened. I’d imagine the asking price is ASP + Danielson + ???. What is the ???? that we would be comfortable giving up? (1st rounder?)

  4. Western teams did pretty good against Eastern teams yesterday. Didn’t know that could happen.

  5. There is only one team that has won 10 games against Atlantic division teams. It’s the Wings.

  6. Right now we’ve got the best goaltender in the league. Comparing Gibby‘s numbers since December 1* to the current leaders’ full season statistics:

    SV%

    1 Cooley .919

    2 Vasilevskiy .917

    Gibby* .926

    GAA

    1 Cooley 2.18

    2 Vasilevskiy 2.18

    Gibby* 2.12

Gibby would lead the league in both GAA and SV%. That is pretty mind blowing.

  7. I root for 2 things…

    1. Red wing victories

    2. Leaf’s lose.

Last night I got both in one game. And the cherry on top watching Biz crying like a bitch on TNT / Twitter. The biggest things I have noticed over the last few weeks from the boys.

    1. The forwards have been better in their own zone supporting the defenseman.

    2. They have been been winning more battles along the boards on a consistent basis.

  8. How many of our players are there to get excited about this year? Where to begin? Gibby, Seider, Cat, Ray, JVR, Larkin. And the overachievers: Copp, Ras, Finnie, Chiarot. And don’t get me started with the pipeline.

  9. I spent a few minutes and reviewed the advanced stats for yesterday’s game. I found the correlation between what I saw and what the numbers said to be very strong. Our best line yesterday was Ras-Apple-Soda (like a raspberry apple soda). They dominated possession and tilted the ice in their favor. The Copp line played well as usual, and the Larkin line held their own.

On the bad news front, the Finnie-Compher-JVR line was again bad. McLellan is probably going to have to do something about it. They are a black hole offensively and gave up way too many scoring chances, including the lone goal. Could we see Finnie sent down and maybe Leonard take that spot?

Also, the Chiarot-ASP pair was caved badly. It was a statistically poor game for both of them.

  10. I’m starting to think that we’re not just a playoff team and we have a chance to go on a run when it all starts. I’ve been trying to ground my expectations this year, but wins keep piling up and we keep staying high up in the standings. I missed having relevant Red Wings games on my TV.

Hopefully March doesn’t break my heart again.

  11. It almost feels like the Wings have gone from playoff hopeful to cup contender (but for the Avs). If we could just get a solid second pair D.

  12. I love a back to back with travel to a different time zone. It’s so fair to both teams.

  13. Since I’m on a work trip in phoenix and the game is on ESPN, does any Wing fans down here know of a good sports bar that will likely be playing the game?

  14. Have to be getting close to a move being made

Basically 2 weeks until the roster freeze for Olympics (2/4)

Then 2 weeks in between Olympic freeze lifted (2/22) and the deadline (3/6)

I’d be surprised by something this week/weekend given the 3 in 4 with travel

But I’d love to be wrong

  15. As the season is approaching the homestretch, I’m getting a good feeling about two things. One is the obvious, I like our chances to make the playoffs. Moneypuck has us at 86.5% this morning. If we have a solid run going into the Olympic break, we could get that over 90%. We have seven games remaining, the majority against teams currently in playoff spots including Colorado twice. If we can win four or five of those games we’ll be sitting pretty.

The other things is I have a good feeling Florida is going to miss the playoffs. Moneypuck has their odds at 38.7% which isn’t too bad, but they are running out of time to flip the switch. There are a handful of teams they have to pass to get in, and they only have four wins in their last ten games. I’m not picking up much in the way of signs of life.

  16. Danielson, Buium, Leonard, and a first for Werenski? Or am I smoking too much before work again

  17. The more I think about it, the more I like Dougie Hamilton. He’s cheap to aquire, we have the capspace and we need someone to play above ASP this season and then ASP takes his place on the second pair soon and once Hamilton’s contract runs out ASP gets his money. He’s a lot better than he has played this season and a change of scenery and a better team will elevate his play.

Low cost, big upside, solves a need now and stops being a problem by the time we need the money.

  18. Actually kind of bummed this winter storm is shifting north and now all we’re getting in North GA is ice. Been awhile since we’ve seen a decent snow here and last week they got snow in Southern GA…it’s just not fair.

  19. “Seider continues, sets up Larkin. That’s the game, and Seider killed McCabe for no good reason after that too. That was mean.” – Dangle

  20. This subreddit is just drunk on the kool-aid today, and you know what? I’m here for it. We deserve the high of winning for once! Been so fucking long!

  21. I’m trying not to get too hopeful for any trades, especially because I’m scared to think about what pieces we’d have to move to get much of anything in this market. But, if a move is going to be made, I like the idea of it happening before the Olympic trade freeze rather than just before the actual trade deadline. That would allow someone to come in and get a handful of practices in with the team before playing any games.
