Get it done Stearns

Evan Roberts is a fucking moron.
Would be pretty wild if he said he was against considering the richest owner in sports hypothetically making him an offer
get it done
👀
“I mean yeah if they wanna give me $200 million now, I’ll take it.” -probably Freddy
Get it done
Why is this news. Is there any player who is going to say publicly, “I have zero interest in staying with this team” during their free agency year. You would just be shutting one possible door towards getting paid. It’s so much easier to just say “Yeah I’m open to staying here long-term.”
Stearns’ final offer: 2 years, $40 million
Even Kawai said he’d be open to a return to Toronto to the media when he was telling players he aint staying.
6 years for $175mil right now. Who says no?
Do it
There’s no way we make this trade if he’s not open to signing a multiyear deal
Sign him to a deal that starts in 2026. Peralta gets a pay raise this year and we basically get him for 1 fewer year of commitment than we would if we waited until after the season to extend him. Win win.
As long as the extension doesn’t take away from possible skubal money, sure!
He’s not the one I was worried about being open to it. Stearns doesn’t seem to like locking up pitchers in their 30s.
Intriguing
An extension will be announced by the weekend.
That’s what my Magic 8 Ball is telling me.
Gimme 4-5 years and I’m in
Will Stearns be willing to give him a long term contract? Track record says no but then it’s an awful lot they had to give up for a rental.
3 years 197 million with monthly opt outs (12 per year)
Yeah i figured the only way they’d do this trade was if they had an agreement in prinicple
Yea I am sure he is coming off his career year.
Just hopefully the Mets are getting 2025 Peralta and not 2023/2024…. Because the 2023/24 version is just another [Luis Severino](https://www.mlb.com/player/622663)
“Man is open to receiving a dump truck full of money”
This is the news I wanted to hear.
Extend Peralta, make a run for Skubal in free agency.
Skubal, Peralta, McLean, Tong would keep a stable pitching rotation for so many years going forward.
Adjust lineups as needed with departures/opt outs while building around Soto and Lindor all while growing the farm system.
The dream long term sustainable winning vision here
Stearns already knew this. He’s known Peralta personally in his phone. He has his cell in his phone. Its why we were willing to give up a big prospect
