BREAKING: Rangers Made HUGE Trade with Nationals.. But Gave Up TOO MUCH??

Earlier today, a deal happened where the Washington Nationals sent All-Star left-handed starting pitcher MacKenzie Gore (originally acquired from the San Diego Padres in the 2022 Juan Soto blockbuster) to the Texas Rangers in exchange for a package of five prospects headlined by 2025 first-round pick infielder Gavin Fien, along with RHP Alejandro Rosario, IF Devin Fitz-Gerald, OF Yeremy Cabrera, and 1B Abimelec Ortiz. This move bolsters the Rangers’ rotation with a young, controllable high-upside arm (under team control through 2027) while kickstarting a deeper rebuild for the Nationals under new leadership, netting them a haul of promising young talent in return.

  1. I wouldn't say Texas got fleeced, none of these guys were in the top 100 and Texas has a bottom tier farm. and Texas kept their main prospects in Walcott and Scarborough,

  2. Gavin Fien has less than 50 ABs in his minor league career
Rosario is good but hasn’t pitched a full season in 2 years
Fitz-Gerald and Cabrera have both only made it to high a
Ortiz has been in the organization for almost 5 years and hasn’t done a whole lot

Seems like a lot on paper but our farm system isn’t even that good. We just added a lefty with all star potential to a rotation that has 2 perennial cy young contenders for a guy who hasn’t done much as a pro and a bunch of wait and see

We also have skip who got great performances out of a bunch of garbage in Miami

  3. Now, for the big question….we know that one or two of these pitchers either signed or traded for is going down for Tommy John surgery. My money is on Gore. I hope and pray that none go down but history is not nice.

  4. As a rangers fan, let’s not forget that there’s no guarantee that prospects pan out. 5 sounds like a lot but what are the odds that all 5 of them become All stars?

  5. Out of those 5 prospects, the only one who could reasonably make an MLB debut before 2027 with the Rangers was Ortiz, and a lot would need to go wrong for that to happen. Everyone else has other prospects in line ahead of them at their positions or just won’t be ready soon.

It’s fair to say at the outset that both teams ā€˜won’ today. Rangers’ pitching staff can work on an all-star pitcher and the Nats get more talent to play with in their rebuild

  6. AJ traded are whole farm system away. iam a padre fan. This reminds me of a AJ move .AJ is the Padres Gm. Padres ranked last in the MLB farm system. Texas better be careful.
