O's lose Valdez as well to the Mets as well.
Signing Valdez to more than three years is not the way to go! I'd stay pat at 3yrs 35m and call it a day!
What's sad is: Elias wasted time and effort again and now the O's are in a box where they have to pay Valdez 35m to get him and he's NOT worth more than 30mill max!
I would like to see Zac Gallen with the Orioles. He is a quality pitcher & has good makeup about him. He had a rough year last year but finished strong in his last 11 starts. Valdez seems too temperamental to me when he threw that pitch at his catcher.
I feel like 2025 Peralta was the outlier. All his main numbers were the same-ish except his ERA. I think he goes back to being a mid-3 ERA guy.

I wish everyone would just cool it on the "Framber incident" manta. He said it wasn't intentional and the catcher said it wasn't intentional, so give it a rest. You don't think Mike Elias hasn't contacted the parties involved, hasn't reached out to the Astros about it, and didn't a deep dive into whether Valdez is a head case or not who should be avoided? If there's a serious issue in the minds of the Orioles regarding him, then they aren't engaged in talks with him. If he signs with the Birds, that's all we need to know, because the front office did its due diligence and came away satisfied that Framber won't be a clubhouse problem. Full stop.
