They need running backs that can run, wide receivers that gen get open, and catch, and lineman that can block. They also need a scheme that doesn’t solely rely on snapping the ball, and seeing what Mahomes can make out of it. Oh, and get under center.
The doesn’t side of the list should be pretty short lol.
1. Mahomes’s knee.
We need a running back that can find the gaps and seams that the online creates. And one that has the open field ability to bust a four yard run into a 10-15 yard carry.
every player on offense not named Creed Humphery last year should be asking themselves, “what do i need to do better?”. Mahomes included. idk if the league running cover 2 on him for 4 years straight did it to him or what, but his deep ball is not what it used to be. not even a deteriorating arm strength thing, its an accuracy or decision thing.
Felt like he used to just drop the ball in perfectly. or maybe it was Tyreek being so fast and good at finding space that it worked so often
From what I saw it looks like they have plenty of depth in the offensive line, and a few solid WRs that’ll benefit from better coaching now that we have an actual WR coach. As far as I can see a workhorse running back and some tight end help and maybe some updates to the WR room should be enough to get everything kickstarted again
A real 3 down back that’s a threat in the passing game. A new TE. A true boundary WR with size.
Need to evolve
This year’s team had a few major issues. One, the scheme was bland and relied way too much on Mahomes making something out of nothing. Two, the RB talent overall was simply not good. Three, WRs have not been good at the details. I’ll give Worthy a pass for now because he was playing injured all season.
Four, we were pathetic at the defense getting off the field on third and long. They were good at not allowing many points, but so many third downs being converted caused them to be gassed by the end of some of those games. Five, we didn’t get many turnovers or special teams returns creating good field position for the offense.
The defensive problems mostly were caused by the pass rush totally disappearing once Omarr Norman-Lott got injured. We need to get more pressure from the RDE spot for sure, and it wouldn’t hurt to get better depth on the interior of the DL. I think our biggest weakness in the secondary is nickel coverage. Our best nickel guy seems to not want to play nickel, which is a problem. That forces a guy who is best as a zone safety to come up and play a spot he’s not really suited for.

Increase tempo on passing plays.
That will solve many, many issues.
