Sixth Man of the Year debate: Keldon Johnson vs Naz Reid
January 23, 2026
Curious to hear people’s thoughts. If you had to pick between Keldon Johnson and Naz Reid for Sixth Man of the Year, who are you taking and why?
Try to keep it objective. Curious what you’d think without team bias.

Keldon is playing better overall, 40% from 3 (1% higher), 8% higher FG despite being shorter than Naz, same rebounding same steals per game only difference is Naz gets almost 1 block per game and they have very similar defensive rating with an edge for Reid.
KJ offers more to the offense I think than Naz does to wolves offense. Both are great and improved in so many areas. I obviously hope KJ wins it and based off better efficiency I could see it
It’s more of a competition between KJ and Jaime Jaquez Jr. of the Miami Heat
if i had to put money on keldon or the field im going the field. call me a cynic but i just dont think his elite efficiency is sustainable
It’s still too early, but I’d say Naz has a slight edge now over KJ and Jaquez. If the Spurs end up with a higher seed and KJ keeps up with his current production, it’s KJ. I have a small bet on KJ to win the 6MOTY award.
Per 100 possessions their points and rebounds are the same. Naz has an advantage in assists and blocks but he doesn’t move the needle enough as a passer or defender for me to weight that very much. KJ has a big advantage in efficiency (.655 vs .598 true shooting%) despite Naz shooting twice the threes. Also basketball reference has KJ with a massive offensive rating advantage (131 to 116) and they have the basically the same defensive rating (113 vs 112). Looking at on/off numbers, both guys are negative which is to be expected cause they don’t get to play as many minute with the starters. But KJ is only a -2.9 net rating, whereas Naz is nearly twice as bad at -5.6. Add in the Spurs being 4 games up in the standings and I think KJ has a pretty solid case to be ahead.
Also, lol at you coming to the Spurs sub for an unbiased take. I did my best lol.
It’s gonna be a tight race for this award if this continues til the end of the season
Just wanna say: on the on-ball defensive possessions where I really hone in on KJ, he doesn’t play horrible defense. He just lacks some lateral quickness and gets blown by sometimes. But other times I see him fight for position very well and also keep in front of the ballhandler without being handsy pretty often as well. I just love KJ man

Ngl Naz should never be in the 6th man convos the dude legit plays like doodoo if he’s not scoring the ball. He’s just a big Jamal Crawford, disappears in the playoffs like him too
Keldons efficiency and shot difficulty are both higher
