[32T] 44:20 Friedman confirms Pagnotta’s report: “the Shane Wright stuff that he’s available and out there and the Kraken are considering moving him, that’s real” and says a Shane Wright for Alexis Lafrenière swap “isn’t the worst idea I’ve ever heard”

  1. Fuck it, I’d take Laf. I’d also keep Shane. But I think that’s a move that’s best for everyone involved.

  2. Signing Stephenson pretty much blocked Shane from ever seeing the 2C and getting reasonable ice time so him possibly being traded is totally a function of the corner the kraken painted themselves in to

  3. But but but I was told I’m a sheeple for even reading the last report!!!

I can’t wait to find out why I shouldn’t believe Friedman either, I hope the *Sub Experts*™ will help us to try to understand 🥺

  4. The reporting is still “Kraken listening to offers” not that they’re actively trying to trade him. i.e. We’re not looking to dump this guy, but he’s not off limits if you have a scorer we can take off your hands. There’s a big difference that all you “hur dur! Look at all the people saying this!” folks are continuing to ignore.

Could he be traded in the near future? absolutely. No one was disputing otherwise. But the reason we’re calling Pagnotta’s article “hacky” is because he makes it sound like they’re actively trying to dump him. I think it’s just as likely he stays since there’s not exactly an abundance of elite scorers available at the moment.

I also think a one for one deal with Lafreniere would be a lateral move at best, a significant downgrade at worst (unless they feel like teaming him up with Kakko will revitalize him or something). If we really want to upgrade our scoring, we need wrap Wright or another prospect up with those 3 late 1st round picks that have been burning a hole in our wallet and pick up a Jason Robertson or something like that. Not to trade a project for a project.

  5. I’m gonna miss Shane but if anything I hope this is a wake up call for the org, Wrights not the only young guy in the org who has been sent through the wringer of minutes, the only young guys we drafted who even get minutes are evans and Beniers.

The farm while promising actually needs to start producing talent, can’t do that if there stuck in Coachella. If this year we don’t make the playoffs I would feel pretty bad if ownership didn’t dump the Francis lineage out of the org entirely.

  6. I would like to know from someone with a little bit more hockey knowledge to explain why this would be good. I know we need someone who scores but we have a good center with a lot of development potential? Would this trade really be that good for us?

  7. Wright is the player that the Kraken never wanted. They’re just being transparent about it now.

Gonna be a real Geekie2.0 situation when a team with space trades for him and let’s him play.

  8. I’m going to be disappointed if we lose Shane, but I’ll be happy for him to hopefully have a chance at more minutes and space to develop. Feels like they really fumbled this one though, and it’s going to sting if he pops off somewhere else

  9. This is a terrible idea, if you want to win a playoff game one day.

There’s no way Catton, O’Brien or Stephenson are better playoff performers than Wright.

  10. Rather have Alex Tuch, if they were really gonna trade. System fit and cheap for now. Prolly ask for 10 mill after this year. Not young like Wright, but they were gonna make a playoff run anyway right? So why not go for it. Robertson, though I’d like him is unrealistic. Like it’d take half the farm to get him. And other options, don’t inspire at all. Lafrieniere, La-yuck.
