Endy Rodríguez Not Ready to Ditch Catching Despite Another Elbow Surgery

  1. I’m not ready to give up on this kid but he really has to show he can stay healthy. I just don’t see where the playing time would come from unless it’s like a quasi super utility role (C/1B/DH)

  2. His bat hasn’t been nearly good enough to justify him on roster. Davis is a solid defender and Endy would need to hit at a good clip to displace him.

  3. Everything is a small sample size problem with trying to evaluate what he could be. With that out of the way, he makes really good swing decisions, makes solid contact, and has produced exit velocities that you would want to see out of a catching prospect. He also looks the part of an athletic backstop, for what thats worth. I am cheering for him to have a full healthy season – in the minors on with the big club.

  4. They should try him at 3rd a little in AAA this year. He seems athletic enough and we don’t have much depth there right now. It’ll give him another chance to earn a roster spot in the future.
