Webb is quoted saying "It's not my job to add guys or do anything. It's our job to just go out there and try to compete. Obviously, yeah, it's not fun for me to watch the team that won it and the team that kicked our ass a lot last year go out and get some really good players just to make it more difficult."

He sounds thrilled with the direction of the team.

  1. He right. MLB needs salary caps. No point in chasing a Team with a $550 salary (adjusted for deferred payments)

  2. Ugh. One of the Giants broadcasters (was it Pavlovic?) summed it up so well after the season, what it’s been like for a Giants fan the last couple years. You see a series with LA (or even SD!) coming up, and you’re thinking, “Maybe we can win one game of three/four.”

  3. Pretty soon the dodgers will have every single greatest player at their position on their roster. But with all of that additional money plus no controls in sight, they will also sign players just so they don’t end up on any other teams. They will put those players in the minors. Their minor league team will also win a World Series.

  4. He’s saying what we all think. Love the risk we’re taking in the dugout but they can only take you so far against the talent gulf we’re up against.

  5. Webb is literally a top 10 pitcher in baseball, and it’s so frustrating that he signed such a team friendly extension with us for us to be mediocre. Web is one of those guys I want to see retire, a giant but he clearly has such a strong drive to win that it worries me what’s gonna happen when he gets to free agency

  6. I’m going to keep repeating it. Hockey lost an entire season over the salary cap.

I’d be willing to miss an entire season of baseball so that it also gets a salary cap.

  7. You know what? Fuck Webb, he opened his trap and was one of the guys that got Kapler fired. Yeah the same Kapler that got you bitches 107 wins.

Good luck getting anywhere near that with Posey as GM and a fucking college coach.

If he wants to win so badly let him fucking leave as a FA.

  8. It’s funny how many fans think we can just win like we did 15 years ago with pitching alone. That formula hasn’t worked and hence why so many people have player tags from that dynasty era (eg Lincecum, MadBum) and the homegrown players we had (Crawford, Belt) etc.

You can’t “home grow” everything and expect it all to stick while literally just signing aging vets who are injury prone. That’s been this organizations mantra for over a decade now. Being a top 5 earner while failing to get to the postseason for so many years.

  9. This notion that teams owe players something is bullshit. He’s a paid employee making millions of dollars.

  10. Bro. What do you expect the giants to do ? Offer Kyle Tucker 70m a year ? I think Webb’s statement is more of a fuck you to the dodgers than a fuck you to the Giants.
