A much different tone at PiratesFest this year: Optimism.
Post-Gazette Pirates insiders Jason Mackey and Colin Beazley recap PiratesFest and look ahead to spring training.
Why was the atmosphere so much better this year? Are the Pirates done, or do they need to make more moves? What are the players saying about manager Don Kelly? What is next for Andrew McCutchen? How will Oneil Cruz improve this year? How should fans feel about the bullpen? Our duo tackles those topics and more.

No better than 3rd place, still no playoffs. Pitching staff is good but only 2 over 140 innings.
If they were going to bring back Cutch, Piratefest would have been a great time to bring him in and sign in front of the fans. Who knows what is going on behind the scenes, but it seems like a missed opportunity.
I hope the moves the Pirates made, make the Pirates competitive.
I am still waiting for the Pirates to increase payroll.
