  1. This feels uninspired, but at least his Philly defense was *ranked* high, but also had a ton of dudes.

Edited to add: Also, his Arizona defense was super creative, but didn’t really have the best personnel, so still didn’t rank well.

    We shall see.

  2. I’m just commenting so I don’t get fined (and so I remember to come back to this when our subreddits experts have formed an opinion)

  3. He might be a little “odd” but if he gets us 70 sacks in a season like he do for the eagles he can be the oddest mfer on the plant I don’t care!

  4. It’s an emotional letdown from Leohnard, but Gannon was a big part of the Eagles first SB run as DC. I think he’ll still be a good replacement for Hafley

  5. Comes from the Fangio tree, and the dude is still young. Was the DC for the eagles in 21-22 and earned himself a HC job.

    I’m excited about this move!

  6. I’m choosing to believe this is a continuity thing. If Leonhard was good he’d probably be a HC pretty quick where as Gannon might be a little less interested in that for awhile.

  7. It sounded like the Cowboys interviewed him and was more impressed with Parker. But this is the Cowboys so I imagine different teams are looking for different things in the interview.

  8. Feels uninspired. Another head coach type so Matt doesn’t have to think about it.

  9. Gannon is a quality coordinator who was a bad head coach, though he was in a tough quarterback situation. The Eagles were 4th best in defensive EPA in his final season in Philadelphia, and were 8th in that same metric across the entirety of the two seasons he was there. It’s not like we were going to lure anyone better away from a different team as a lateral hire.

  10. Happy with this. He’s a good DC and he likely wont be getting any HC jobs if he does well.

  11. gannon was a dc for the eagles in their first superbowl, he is a good DC, im ok.

    now fire Bisaccia

  12. Not sure how to feel. Was hoping for Leonhard but honestly, wtf do I know. He was part of a super bowl squad and has HC experience. It didn’t seem like Arizona quit on him last year. They played hard even after they were eliminated. I’ll take that as a positive.

  13. I’m okay with this. The Eagles had pretty good defenses when he was there. I would’ve liked Leonhard, but Gannon is a bit more of a proven commodity

  14. This is the absolute best and/or absolute worst hire they could have made. I’m sure of it. Or whatever.
