2. It sounds like rooneys panic saw other teams get coaches figured they better get someone mcarthy js a security blanket bridge coach until the right person becomes available my opinion

3. For the last five years or so, championship playoff football looks so alien compared to what we watch in Pittsburgh every week.

   We're in a better spot than we were two weeks ago. Will he actually move the needle enough? Who knows.

4. McCarthy better than Mike Tomlin..😂 Mike T has a better winning percentage.then McCarthy. So does that mean the defensive coach is better than the offensive coach? they say the numbers don’t lie. Let me point out another thing five out of our six Super Bowls was 70% defense 30% offense,the one Super Bowl that I would say was more offense than defense, even though James Harrison had one of the best Super Bowl defensive plays in NFL history. Was Big Ben throw to Holmes. so with that being said why so many people are adamant about having an offensive coach is beyond me. I personally believe defense win Super Bowls.

5. The Steelers are just another team.

6. The funny thing is, ppl demand change and that’s exactly what happened. Noll, Cowher & Tomlin were all young, up and coming defensive guys who ended up having long tenure with the team. Each one also won at least 1 SB. McCarthy is the exact opposite of the others. He’s an experienced GC, who’s offensive minded. Thats change! lol. I do believe McCarthy was hired to “fix” things now and bring in a younger guy in a few yrs who can take the reins when the team is in a better place. Would Tomlin have been hired back in 07 if Ben was here? Steelers had a franchise QB then, but not now and that’s the difference. The same ppl that demanded Shula or Scheelhaase now, would run them out of town without immediate success. And let’s be honest, it’s not fair to ask a rookie HC to do so much early on. Let McCarthy lay a foundation for the next HC. Thats what this is.

7. What with all the bemoaning — me too — the ownership’s foibles are framed by the knowledge that the seats at Acrisure will be filled…

8. The Steelers haven't been relevant since the Jacksonville playoff loss.

9. Rooney said it. The Steelers were not going to clean house and rebuild. Who wants 3 or 4 years of sucking? McCarthy and Rodgers. This year was fun. Next year will be better.

11. I wasn’t thrilled when I saw the breaking news, but I thought of a couple things to keep in mind:

    1. Andy Reid is 5 years older than Mike. Both offensive coaches with similar resumes before Andy got Mahomes. Most of the teams with franchise QB’s right now were already making the playoffs and traded up to get a QB. Only the terrible teams were so bad that they were picking first in the draft. Teams like the Rams and Seahawks got a veteran QB in free agency.

    2. Be aware of the “Sean Mcvay Effect.” No coach under Mcvay got more hype than former Rams DC Brandon Staley and look what he did with the Chargers. The main component that works for these coaches seems to be when you’re working under Sean Mcvay. And it only seems to work when he has a QB having a hall of fame season.

    3. Most of you seem to have thought that Tomlin stayed well passed longer than he should have been here. Now you’re complaining that we aren’t doing the traditional thing by hiring another 20+ year coach?

12. Andy was 54 when he joined the chiefs …62 is just unacceptable

13. The Steelers must have heard from back channels that the Ram coaches were not all interested.

    There are so many holes on this roster. Coach is not the only problem.

16. Disappointed yes. Devastated yes. Angry yes. How many games will win next season? Maybe 4. Yes wasted chance. Rams will lose and then we all will be more pissed. But can't ownership force or very strongly suggest that McCarthy hire those Rams folks as coordinators. And don't forget they can't pay lots of $ for HC since they're paying Tomlin his contract salary and sending him on World Tour. So there you go.

17. Yes. Let's continue with 9-8. And continue with legacy of non losing season. Since we all love not winning a playoff game, especially when it's at home.

18. Look at Tomlins record with substandard QB playing then look at MM record when he had start QB's that where substandard – not even close – and you think MM is a better coach.

19. How about people believe in a true Yinzer who knows the only things Yinzers want is a QB (since Big ben) and the 7th superbowl. Stop whining and give a true Pittsburgh guy a chance.

20. Yall really pushed tomlin out so we could end up with McCarthy. Karma

22. I hope McCarthy can be a good steward for the team. Coach for 5-8 years and get us to a better place where we have a QB and set it up as a good situation for the next HC. He’s a Pittsburgh guy and a respected coach, hopefully, he can help us figure out QB.

23. I see him as a transition coach. Let's see who he brings in as OC and DC. He's an offensive coach and what has been broken the last few years? I'm thinking they're bringing him in to fix what's broken and then hand it over to a younger coach again.

26. Why ? That seems to be the common theme here. The only way this hire works is if they develop a young QB whether it's Howard or a draft pick AND the defense get's fixed. A win in January helps too. So I say to all fans do not wait long to voice displeasure when things go sideways
