  1. Must create headway for March, no lead is too comfortable with March still looming..LGRW

  2. Still cleaning up from the big snowstorm and now frigid temps here in Louisville. I’m getting old for sure. I can only handle about 10 minutes of shoveling at a time but with a history of heart problems, better to take it easy. Normally I’d toss around some salt and let it melt but it’s going to be below freezing for at least a week.

  3. Have to go buy a new car battery today. Sure hope it’s there when I get there, otherwise there’s a high chance I’ll be stuck in their parking lot without it.

  4. Bultman said just a few minutes ago that while it could be another quiet trade deadline for the Wings he believes we’ll acquire a defender. I agree with him. D was an issue before Ed went down, and the way I’m reading into it he could be out a while.

  5. Would really like a goal scorer to help score goals come playoff time when it gets much harder and there’s no 3on3 in overtime

  6. Anyone else suspect Talbot is available?

Gibson has solidified the #1 spot. Talbot is UFA this summer. With Cossa’s performance this season and last, he will be brought up full time next year. There’s always a few teams looking to add to their depth in net. Also would allow for Cossa to get some more NHL games under his belt this season.

Edit: no aspect of moving Talbot would be about the return, or lack thereof. It would be purely to bring in Cossa to play in meaningful NHL games down the stretch.

  7. Currently arguing with a dude on puckpedia who thinks we should trade Danielson and this year’s 1st for Kadri. I know puckpedia is not where one goes for rational thought but I can’t help myself. Some of the trade proposals are so outlandish it’s entertaining.

  8. I must be in the minority because I don’t love the Sherwood trade for San Jose. Unless he signs an extension, it seems excessively aggressive. They shouldn’t be moving out assets for a rental quite yet. Even if they do extend them, he’s at the top of my list of pending UFAs I’m hoping my GM avoids.

  9. Seeing a lot of Rob Thomas discord, putty the cart in front of the horse here, would you give up premium for a guy who will be a 3c or do you break up copp kane cat and slide him in for copp?

  10. Utah is a curious goalie situation. Vejmelka is tops in the league lead with 25 wins. Their backup Vanecek has only 2 wins in 13 appearances.

  11. As a fellow glasses wearing hockey player, I just want to shout out Brock Faber to bringing this look on trend. Giving us nerd hockey players the voice we never knew we needed.

  12. Breaking news, Ed is shut down through the Olympic break

    -edit

The two things I can come up with are it’s a groin issue, or maybe a broken bone. He played through whatever the issue is and finished a game, but it got worse the next day.

  13. I understand all the discussion below about bringing in some talent. My thought is that if we can shore up D or add a decent forward for a decent price and term then we go for it of course. But I don’t think we’re to the point yet of being extravagant about it. In all reality we are improving, but we are not a contender yet. I call the season a success if we make it to the second round- which I think is realistic. If we get beyond that then we’ve exceeded our wildest wishes.

In the end, Steve has got us where we are and I trust his vision and competence. I trust that when we need to pull the trigger on a big trade, he’ll do it.

  14. LA’s game in Columbus tonight has been postponed. So much for catching them on a b2b 😞

  15. If Simon is just out through the Olympic break and nothing beyond that then that’s honestly amazing news. That’s just 5 more games. Let’s hope that’s the case.

The Olympic break might actually end up being a blessing in disguise this year flipping the script from the 4 Nations break last year.
