This is the biggest week in Arizona Cardinals history — and win or lose, everything changes, especially behind the scenes.
On this episode of the Southwest Bias, Espo breaks down why the Cardinals’ coaching hire could define the franchise’s future. With Mike LaFleur emerging as the likely choice, and Anthony Campanile and Raheem Morris still firmly in the mix, this decision may shape the Cardinals for years to come.
Is LaFleur the offensive reset Marvin Harrison Jr., Trey McBride and the team needs?
Could Campanile bring the culture and defensive edge Arizona’s been missing?
Or does Raheem Morris represent the safest, most experienced path forward?
We dive into:
– Why this coaching decision makes this the biggest week in Cardinals history
– What Mike LaFleur would change offensively in Arizona
– The upside and risk of Anthony Campanile as a culture builder
– Why Raheem Morris remains a serious contender
– How this hire impacts the quarterback situation, the roster, and the front office

Sorry I missed the show Espo. Thank you Seattle, now it's time to push our chips all in for Mike LaFleur, then R. Morris as DC and before anyone else steals him. Mike needs to ask Nate Scheelhaase to come and be his OC. This would be really good staff for 2026. There is one other option, if Shula doesn't get the Buf. job then we could hire Chris Shula as HC, Nate Scheelhaase as OC and then keep Nick Rallis as DC but Shula would work closely with Nick and keep his hands in the defense.
As for interviewing V. Joseph, R. Morris and Anthony Weaver, they were just to comply with the Rooney Rule where every team must interview at least 2-3 minorities when hiring a new head coach. That's all I have to say. 😁
Morris will not do as well as you predict in this division, he's never been in a division this tough.
It's not just this Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator decision that this team CAN'T get wrong, it's Also The Upcoming Draft That they can NOT get wrong with the Starting QB Search. THE HELL WITH KYLER MURRAY!!! Find an ABOVE Average 6'2"+ QB and Only Offensive Lineman In This Draft!!
Johnny I've been hearing that Cleveland is leaning toward Grant Udinski as their next HC, but they have also been looking at Scheelhasse. If we do hire Mike LaFleur don't you think it would make sense that Nate would love the opportunity to stay with Mike LaFleur and come here to be his OC. If it's between Cleveland and Arizona for OC job, stay with Mike and come here.
In case you haven't heard Johnny, JG signed with GB this morning to become their DC
If they don't get it right by my standards what can they do right via the draft and QB, right?!!
Does Lafleur bring any Rams assistants to Phoenix – NO.
We need a coordinator with enough NFL relationships to bring coordinators.
Morris too many losses.
Hopefully there's a dark horse we don't know of.
The scary prospect is Monti will choose the next HC, his Gannon choice ended up a fiasco.
It seems Monti wants someone young so he remains the smartest man in the room, not someone who can give him good alternative choices.
Gannon wasn't ready Johnny, he was too new.
It's frustrating to see new guys, not decade long proven coordinators.
There should be a history where a coordinator has worked with multiple coaches and GM's and you can see his philosophy
I agree with you Johnny, hiring Mike LaFleur is the safest hire, it's much easier to find another DC if they go somewhere to become a HC but good OC's are much harder to find these days. Hiring Mike LaFleur, there's a great chance that Mike lasts for a long time if he's good, by also hiring Nate Scheelhaase to come in and be his OC, you have 2 young offensive minds and if and when Nate gets a HC job, we'll still have McFleur as HC/OC .
Campanile has a significantly more impressive resume.
