Mel Kiper’s new 2026 NFL mock draft had the Houston Texans selecting Alabama OL Kadyn Proctor with the 28th pick in the 2026 NFL draft. Mel Kiper on mocking Proctor to Texans:
“Houston turned its offensive line upside down last offseason in a full makeover effort, but there wasn’t enough improvement. The unit was still 30th in pass block win rate at 55.5%, though the sack count dropped from 54 (tied for third most) to 31 (tied for ninth fewest). There’s also the matter of the entire right side being unsigned for 2026. Proctor had all 40 of his career starts at left tackle (where Aireontae Ersery was this season), but he could slide to right tackle or even inside to guard. The bigger priority is getting capable blockers in front of C.J. Stroud.”

It’s very unlikely that S Caleb Downs falls to the Houston Texans in the 2026 NFL draft, but the Texans own plenty of picks to possibly trade up and draft Caleb Downs. Another defensive player the Houston Texans could trade up and draft in the 2026 NFL draft is also from Ohio State, LB Sonny Styles. Both Ohio State players are at the top of their position in the 2026 NFL draft and could help the Houston Texans defense excel exponentially.

  4. Only way of NC splurging on Oline, like Linderbaum, Matt Pryor (Eagles), or RB Hall or Walker III is if he hits his head or realizes its whats needed to actually make a deep run into Jan and Feb.

  5. I think we should draft Caleb downs from the Ohio state university to be the go to weapon for our quarterback cj Stroud who is also a former Ohio state university quarterback

  9. Don't think Proctor will be there at 28. I think if we trade back we can still get a good O-Linemen in round 2 at 38. Would take any of these dudes. Not a fan of trading picks to move up. NO WR this year. Need 2 TE's. FA or draft or both.

  14. I doubt Proctor will fall to 28. Pregnon and Freeling should be available at 38 in the second round.
    I would get the top weapon available – probably Kenyon Sadiq

  16. I don't care who you put in front of Stroud and gives him all the time in the world….It's still NOT going to approve his Horrible performance that we all saw during the play-offs…..The Problem IS CJ and IMHO he needs to GO.

  28. Every pick better go to the line we dont need anything else. Hopefully Joe mix comes back but we got marks and Jordan at backs. I love out 2 young receivers paired with collins and tank Dell return. On top of brethren Jordan coming back at te. And we know what the defense is. So yeah everything should be put entirely into o line.

  34. Another safety/lb combo or solid nickel corner is an underrated need. The way Pitre plays and the importance of that hybrid role for this defense mean depth is important.
