[Mercogliano]: I’m hearing NYR are on the verge of their first move of the retool. A trade that sends Carson Soucy to the Isles is brewing. No official announcement yet as they work out the particulars, but expect him to be held out of the lineup tonight for roster management.

  3. For everyone complaining about how Mayfield is such a below average third pairing guy you’re about to see Soucy play at the exact same level

  8. Clearly the isles are just gonna soft buy at the deadline this year but if this anything more than like a 4th I’ll be unhappy

  13. Got to watch him a lot when he was on Seattle, not sure how he’s been since.

    His play in Seattle would make me happy to have him over our current rotating 6th D-man situation, but the price better be REAL LOW for a 31 year old 3rd pair defenseman.

  16. For a 4th or lower, I’ll be happy with this, regardless of how Soucy ends up playing. It can’t possibly get worse than two of Boqvist/DeAngelo/Mayfield sometimes being on the same pairing together

  20. Umm. Not sure what we are doing here. Need to sell big time. Feel we stand pat and add nobodies to the D and even if we get in get bounced in the first round. Trade JGP and Lee and use that capital to rebuild our D for the future.

  26. Solid veteran depth that’s better than the carousel of 8th d men we’ve had in that spot since Romanov got hurt. Probably a concern about lack of foot speed and puck moving ability if he plays with Mayfield, but there’s no perfect upgrades out there- especially if we are holding on to our 1sts and top prospects. Upgrading the spot to any degree is acceptable.

  27. I just don’t think is is a necessary move at all. Probably not the worst thing that can happen but I really don’t want the isles contributing to the rangers retool

  30. As you all said, I don’t want anyone on that team not named Rempe. Rempe is the only one I’d want on the isles right now.

    You want a defenseman? Calgary looking to unload Whitecloud. Make that deal.

  32. Soucy hasn’t looked good this year but no one on the Rangers has. That locker room is a mess. And he’s been playing 2nd pair minutes and matchups all year. As a bottom pair guy in a faster, more structured system like NYI, there’s a good chance he plays well for you.

  35. We don’t need this at all. I really hope this is not true. We have enough below-mid players already. Spend some of that LTIR money from Palms and Romanov.
