Wait… are billionaires what’s wrong with society and not immigrants?
Mark Cuban: “C’mon, all NBA owners are linked to Russia somehow. This is a nothingburger.”
Ja was trying to tell us but we wouldn’t listen
Its been said over and over but there are no such things as good billionaires.
Just finished it. For those who want a summary:
Grizzlies Owner Robert Pera has his entire networth ($30b) tied to his company, Ubiquity, that sells WiFi equipment.
This WiFi equipment is showing up on the frontlines of the Ukraine-Russia war in shocking numbers. Alleged that 80% of Russia’s communication network on the frontline relies on these devices. The video has pictures, video, and Russian soldiers on telegram begging for donations like twitch streamers so they can buy more.
Russia is under sanctions, so it should be strictly illegal to sell devices like this to them. His company got in trouble for doing the exact same thing in 2014 when his devices started showing up in Iran, and the US Government fined them $500k, small because it was a first time offense. Grizzlies Owner said if this happened again, he’d be fucked.
In the video, they show how easy it is for Ubiquity devices to be bought from third party sellers in Russia. Ubiquity has basically no sales team of its own, it relies on these third party sellers and washes their hands clean of wherever they might end up. This is one way to cut your costs, have no compliance officers.
They even talk to an american third party seller, and pose as a Russian trying to buy $80k worth of devices. They set them up with the transaction, by sending them to Turkey first, then Russia. This is blatant sanctions violation, like a textbook example.
Video ends with Pablo Torres asking if Adam Silver is fining Ja Morant for holding a gun, what should he do with the Grizzlies owner who’s evading sanctions (allegedly) making millions off the war in Ukraine while on Team Russia.
This team never should have left Vancouver
There is so much to find out!
Is this Ubiquity different from Ubiquiti, also selling wifi and networking equipment?
Making his money off of war crimes and the guy still wont go into the luxury tax, only fuckin billionaires lol
Russian military funded franchise
US company intentionally flaunting sanctions and export bans
This is fucking disgusting, there is absolutely no way that the company isn’t fully aware and deliberately violating sanctions.
Sanctions are important because they are one of the few non-violent tools we have in foreign policy so when they are violated you are violating the security of the country (and the world) and this technology is so crucial to the Ukrainian conflict that you might as well be sending the Russians weapons.
At the rate Pablo is pissing of rich and influential people he better get some private security.
(*bush meme*) Sir, another NBA Owner got Pablo’d
Really good watch
On a related note, this article from last years says Russian govt hackers use these Ubiquiti routers as part of their botnet
“Russian hackers using ‘compromised’ internet routers for cyber operations, US, international law enforcement warn”
https://abcnews.go.com/amp/US/russian-hackers-compromised-internet-routers-cyber-operations-us/story?id=107616396
I’m tired boss
I think it’s more there is no ethical billionaire, so anyone owning an MBA franchise is at best a bad, at worst a monster.
“There’s a good chance I may have committed some light treason”
All the billionaires are awful. They don’t want any competition. They all want their own fiefdoms where they can do whatever they want. We know from the Epstein files that several billionaires, with the implicit cooperation of the US and Israeli government, are literally raping kids because they can. I guarantee there are plenty of billionaires funding terrorist groups and funding horrible wars elsewhere. They’re all terrible.
Billionaires are legit the scum of the earth
It’s truly incredible how PTFO is able to put out so much amazing stuff on a daily basis.
Pablo pls be safe
Here’s the [Hunterbrook article](https://hntrbrk.com/ubiquiti/) that broke the news if anyone prefers reading to watching/listening
Sooner or later you’re going to realize that all people with this kind of money are bad people.
Kind of ironic considering Trump and Putin are best buds. Am sure Trump would be thrilled that an American is making money off Russia and shutting up that ungrateful Zelensky..
Somebody keep an eye out on ol’ cart narc Pablo… I don’t want him missing or otherwise
When Pablo gonna release the name of the ICE agents that murdered Alex Pretti??
There are (almost) no ethical billionaires.
Protect Pablo at all costs… he will continue to expose these corrupt billionaires. Now will anything change, probably not since the rich look at the rich, society will need to force a change at some point and take things into own hands while democracy is still alive
When the PED reports about Pablo come out it’s going to be sad but I’m still going to remember this like I do Bonds 2000-2004 run
Adam Silver: but look at how much money the NBA is making! I’m a success! Hey! Stop looking behind that curtain of everyone from refs to coaches to players betting on NBA games, owners literally breaking laws and every rule in the sport and domestic violence and poor character issues for star players in the league! Just look at the $$$
This is like Tony Stark in 2008 Ironman with the Jericho missiles… except this dude isn’t going to have a redemption story
Nothing will happen on the end. NBA will say they don’t police sanctions, and the Trump administration will do nothing. The previous fine to Ubiquity was under the Obama administration.
I um….oh wow, yeah this is all stuff I’m pretty morally opposed to.
Mark Cuban : “Hey, what’s wrong with a little war profiteering between friends?
Pablo doesn’t have anything against NBA owners in particular, it’s just all owners are billionaire pieces of shit and Pablo’s one of the last few good journos left
Why should anyone like an owner?
If I’m Pablo, I’m turning down all the complimentary room upgrades to a higher floor.
maybe he just doesn’t like corruption?
.NBA is going to hire a professional hitman to go after Pablo at this rate
Bro Pablo better be off the grid dropping stories like this, they’re coming for him
Yet owners can donate all they want to Israel and no one bat’s an eye.
Well, at the end of the day, the way we punish wrongdoing companies in the USA is to fine them. If we had any balls, like those swinging when the Law comes after the average person, we’d indict and charge those billionaire’s criminally. That is the only way to stop this type of behavior from happening. Writing a check, is not punishment enough. Big Corporate spills toxic chemicals, manufacture’s goods that cause cancer, pollutes cancer causing chemicals all over the world. Why? Because they know, even before they start production, that the amount of money they make will dwarf any fines or lawsuit liability. And they can do this because specifically, they have the money to thumb their nose at justice. Why does the US Justice department have a 98% or better conviction rate? They don’t charge big-pocket individuals with crime. Remember the financial crisis in 2007-08? I don’t remember seeing any investment bankers being arrested and indicted, even though these were the one’s largely responsible for the crisis. What did the US government do? We bailed them out.
The NBA has become way more corrupt under Adam Silver’s watch. It’s not even debatable.
You have to be a terrible person to be a billionaire, you dont get there being nice.NBA really needs to step in and investigate and if its true force a sale
Pablo needs to stay away from windows for a while
Weird bit of NBA news crossed with Pro-America propaganda. What about the complicity of NBA owners in *American* war crimes?
One thing that muddies it for me is, from what I can see, Hunterbrook Capital shorts companies their news outlet arm reports on. It’s in the article itself at the top. That’s pretty sketchy regardless of accuracy of reporting.
Also they lacked an understanding of why Ubiquiti gear became so popular. So much of it throughout Ubiquiti’s history you could buy the hardware and configure directly (or on locally installed controller software) without any additional licensing or activation through the company. No way really to prevent you using it. So new or used, the hardware was yours to run, aside from EOL and controller software updates making it incompatible.
I haven’t been deploying Ubiquiti for a good five years now, however, so I’m not as up to date about the most current generations of hardware setup. But, them turning a blind eye to resellers supplying Russian front lines would be on brand though, given their history. Irony there is they’ve had supply issues for so many years, where it was hard to track down and buy in quantities needed for projects without paying markup prices from resellers. Businesses and prosumers may have had trouble sourcing gear because Russia was getting large swaths of it.
