  1. Biggest truth in this video – Nick admitting he announced a trade the Jays were interested in but didn't happen.
Team doesn't need another Varsho – if Davey Pop can't get Varsho to hit or Gimmie, whats make you think he will with Cruz? Going to sit through 400+ awful AB's to catch 20 HR's and a few doubles – not worth it!
Team doesn't need this type of "tinkering deal" just after heading to the WS – why fix what's not broke.

  2. Guys this is the Pirates they're not going to take on berrios unless we pay more than half his salary, he will likely pick up his option at 23m'ish a season x 2 Pirates don't pay stars that much but you think they'll eat that contract, laughable

  3. 😂 The pirates are finally spending money to sell tickets and you think they will trade their best young player? Ok, sure after him, it makes sense to trade for Elly de la Cruz from the Reds. 😂

  4. Is Santander not a big bat that strikes out? Cruz is solid defensively but I just don’t see the fit. Where are you putting all these guys?

  5. Good Lad. Mr. Cruz is a Good player, not Great. I've watched him at Rodgers, when he connects, nobody even moves, they just watch the ball fly out of the Park. I've also seen him make boneheaded plays in the outfield. All good, get him if you can. Thanks for sharing.

  6. Pirate's would never want Berrios . They have solid pitching n dont need Berrios with hes massive contract. They need Bats themselves. Are Jays eating that contract just to get him off the team ? This makes little sense for Pirate's, would be too good for the Jays n not beneficial to Pirates

  7. You simply can't trade away a significant part of our rotation with no replacement in return, especially with the uncertainty of Yesavage. His innings will have to be managed, who knows how successful his temporary replacement (Lauer or Ponce) is going to be while they fill in for the innings he doesn't pitch, and we still don't know how successful he'll be throughout his first semi-full season. Additionally, who knows if Bieber will have any setbacks after coming back from Tommy John. If either of them falter, how does our rotation look with Berríos gone as well? Not good at all. Unless a trade is made to get a starting pitcher in return, this makes absolutely no sense.

Secondly, I'm not interested in a low average, low on-base percentage project player on our roster. It can be argued that we already have two with Varsho and Giménez, and we still don't know what we'll get with Okamoto's first MLB season. Two to three uncertainties is enough. Sure, Cruz steals a lot of bases, but he's 6'7" and he would be playing on artificial turf the whole time he's here. At his size, how long do you think it'll take before that starts wearing on his joints and leaves him susceptible to injuries?

Thirdly, the thing you're not taking into account is why would the Pirates trade a player making the league minimum salary (Cruz), and who has team control through to the end of the 2028 season, only to take on a player who will make $18.7 million this season (Berríos), who has a player opt out after this season, and who will also make $24.7 million for two more seasons if he stays with the Pirates (not likely)? Even on a dollar and cents, and risk standpoint, this trade doesn't make any sense at all.

Sure, Oneil Cruz "could" turn into a star, but he also may not. Unless a quality starting pitcher is a part of the trade to replace Berríos, this trade makes no sense whatsoever.

  8. Don’t worry if Nick‘s talking about him, we won’t get him, every time Nick mentions someone’s name they sign with the Dodgers🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤣🤣

  9. You are assuming that Cruz can be taught to be a better hitter. There's a lot of MLB players whose egos resist instruction. If Pittsburg is actively shopping him, there must be a part of his makeup that they are trying to offload.

  10. I'd pass on Cruz. Especially any trade that include Eric Layer and Jake Bloss. We need the pitching in the bullpen and Lauer can also start as we saw last year. No way we would have made the playoffs without Lauer coming through on pitching as a starter. He's been long forgotten in last year's run. Jake Bloss could fill in when Gausman leaves or other starters leave.

  11. That is not the move at all. I think I'd rather lukes and his base hit bat any day of the week over a home run once every 8 games. Lauer needs to stay, if he's not a starter they need a long arm in the pen and he is someone you can trust on the mound

  12. LOL. They aren't going to sell low and the Jays would have to move an OF for him. You would have to give up quite a bit for him. As well, he is a high strikeout guy, which doesn't fit into the Jays philosophy. Right now you have Barger, Varsho, Lukes, Santander and Springer in the OF, you don't have enough PAs for everyone. You are giving them too much as well. If you move Lauer and a starter goes down, the Jays are screwed. Jays value pitching and defense above all else, also there is enough hitting already, you have a bottom part of the order that involves Okamoto, lol.

If you could get him to have a much better on base, he would be a great #2 hitter, but right now, he isn't close to that.

  13. If the Jays think they can unlock Cruz's potential than he seems like a good add but price always matters. His value shoukd be as low as it will get right now
