We couldn't even afford 2 years/$20.5M?

  1. I’m honestly relieved. I was kind of afraid they’d overpay for Bader. It’s not the kind of signing that usually works out for this team. I could be wrong though.

    RemindMe! 10 months

  2. Plays great defense but doesn’t hit lefties and major candidate for regression. Hard pass.

I’m still holding out hope for Austin Hays.

  3. he’s got a lifetime 245/312/448 line against lefties (which is where we most need help), so i don’t think we missed out on much. which is more likely to be the real bader – the guy who hit 305 in 177 second half at bats last season, or the guy who’s a career 247 hitter across 9 seasons?

  4. $20.5 million is a lot of money. I’d sign for half that (of course I’m 76 years old and I have a sore back)…

  5. I’d much rather have taken a flyer on Lane for $5MM if we were going to do something. If we didn’t do that, it looks like we’re doing nothing at all…..nothing at all…..nothing at all…..

  6. There’s a difference between “can’t afford” and “didn’t view him as worth that much.” I don’t think Bader would be a good fit and I wouldn’t have gone after him.

  7. I’m OK seeing DeLauter, Kayfus, and Valera out there. I will be pissed if they run out a non performing Nolan Jones though,
