I know rumors are like AHs, everyone has one. In some cases, some insiders appear to have more than one a’hole with all the rumors they’re pushing.
Sports Illustrated Patrick McAvoy is reporting that the Red Sox and Yankees have interest, but no real traction.
Says Abrams would most likely shift to 2nd, while admitting it would take a haul of prospects to get him.
Do we need another lefty? Do we need another “experiment” at 2nd base as Abrams would likely go from SS to 2nd.

That’s not a rumor. That’s a crap writer pulling an idea out of his ass.
Abrams would get use to that ride down Storrow and over to Encore
1) SI isn’t reporting anything. It’s an aggregation of a Jim Bowden article.
2) Bowden isn’t reporting anything and merely mentions the Sox and Yanks as “potential” fits
Who reads SI anymore?
SI is useless crap
They can justify anything by calling it a rumor
SI is aggregated crap.
Red Sox are empting out the farm system to PT who built the Red Sox farm system for someone that isn’t going to hit well at Fenway, a left handed budget Bichette without the .300 average, and defensively an utter mess. This is why it helps signing free agents because we can’t be chipping away at prospects who they may need a few years from now. Crochet was a must. Contreras was a 1st basemen they needed now. They need to fix log jams but Nationals don’t need Duran because they have outfielders and their window just got pushed back to 2029. They are going to ask for pitching depth and guys a few years out that will kill us later and CJ Abrams is not the guy to do that for. He’s a Kristian Campbell that actually got playing time.
Apparently, the Yankees are getting CJ Abrams.
To answer your question, this is click bait at best.
And to address the lefty concern, my feeling is that if you can hit, you can hit, I don’t care what side of the plate he stands on…
This doesn’t seem like a rumor with any legs but I wish it were true.
Abrams put up 3.1 fWAR and 3.4 bwar in 2025 while playing a sub par SS. He could very well play 2B better than SS but the Nats needed him there. Abrams has put up almost back to back to back 20/30 seasons and could be getting better. Hes young and super athletic with a few more controllable years on his contract. This is the guy you trade for.
