How good was Shaun O’Hara in his prime?

  1. I mean like any very good lineman it’s a player you forget about, rarely made mistakes

  2. If he wasn’t the best center in football he was absolutely the best center the giants have had, and he was the best center for Eli. They rarely had any miscommunications and Shaun was always calling stuff out on the line pre snap.

  3. He retired in 2010 and we still haven’t replaced him in 2026. He was only all pro once and was never the leagues best center but he was a reliable center for the giants and Eli. He was #65 on the top 100 best giants players of all time list. Simply put, he was a stud for us and he’s a reason why we won a super bowl in 07.

  4. Ask about Rich Seubert. Most underrated guy on that line, but the one who I think gave their pin and pull man blocking the versatility it needed.

Also, it was a requisite to be nasty to play around that guy.

I always thought O’Hara’s play was a little overrated. Yes, a very good and deserved pro-bowl center and everything you want from the guy snapping the ball. 2009 was his best year where he was arguably the best center in the league. He also made a pro bowl despite being injured which is a bit of a microcosm for the rest of his career. Thought he was the fourth best Giants lineman at his respective position at his peak. He was a great leader though. Can’t deny that.

  5. He was very good, but that whole line was very good, and together they were excellent. One of those instances that they were better than the sum of their parts.

Good coaching, gelling as a group and men committed to their craft, made for a line that really dominated for a few years in the mid-late 2000s
