When is the last time Ohio State produced a QB that thrived in the NFL? It's not a coincidence that Ohio State puts a lot of high level receivers in the NFL, and the QB's playing with them benefit from this in college. CJ had like three All American level receivers when he played at Ohio State. They'd make any QB look like a Heisman winner. Justin Fields was the same. Big Ten isn't filling the NFL with elite QB talent as that isn't the position that makes or breaks teams in that conference. Look at the top QB's of 2025 and see what schools they played at in college.
CJ is a Hybrid Houston qb…part David Carr and part Matt Schaub
He’s a good QB…not great …but you can win with him.
There is no way in gods wonderful green Earth that the Texans are going to give Stroud $60M, it's time to move on from him.
Steelers should grap him if prices is right. 60 million year is insane
25 million, max.
He's a bust, this is his prove it year, if he plays well he gets paid, if not he's gone.
Captain Kirk Cousins to the Texans can you imagine that Houston?🔥🔥🔥🔥
No way stroud is worth 60 million trade his ass. Build the oline and draft a good running back and pay Davis mills 35 million a year for 3 years
Time to move on.
This idiot is not worth even 6 million a year , we’ve seen what he can do and it’s not impressive. That being said , Houston is probably stupid enough to give him what he wants .
There is NO WAY on this Earth that he is franchise quarterback!!! TRADE HIM to another shit teams like the Jets, Cardinals, Dolphins, Saints, or Browns.
If he gets even 40 there is something messed up.
All I hear is Joe Barrow
If they pay him then that defense will slowly move away for more money.
Defense like that is gold and is #1 priority.
Mac Jones, Justin fields and others have starter experience and are cheaper.
There's no incentive on either side to open up negotiations on a contract right now. Texans are still $2M over cap and while they'll probably release Mixon and re-sign a vet to create some more room, they're focus will be on creating more offensive options which will play well for CJ as he goes into the latter portion of his contract. CJ's numbers this year were perfectly acceptable in every area, the Texans aren't worried about a skills issue, they need to build better insulation around him so he can showcase his skills.
60M for Stroud? LMFAO!
Should have pulled him at halftime backup would have gave them a better chance Stroud played terrible
My biggest regret as a Texans fan was never buying a Fitzpatrick jersey!!
So he had a bad game. He is not the only one. Josh allen didnt have a good game. Rogers had a horrible game.
Media loves shitting on CJ
Baker Mayfield was in a similar situation a few years ago but still got paid. I feel similar to CJ after 3yrs as I did Baker…that worked out ok.
Franchise Tag !!!
most qb's have some sort of confidence he does not have it !! you dont play bad back to back if you have that moxy in your attitude he doesnt have its not something you can install, you have or you dont!!!
I guess in the world of the NFL, a player is worth whatever his agent can negotiate for him. But using the eyeball test, why pay a quarterback 60 million when your eyeballs tell you he is absolutely not at the 60 million level. Does common sense ever win out with these professional teams???
2026 has to be a prove it year for CJ.
No team is paying Stroud 60m a year.
Shocking take, a career bridge gap QB advocates for the bridge and dump the starter. Now add context. Why did he throw the INT’s? Was it because they took a 2004 Patriots playbook into New England? Surely a guy (Vrabel) who practiced against it daily, and a guy (McDaniels) that designed the offense recognized what was being run? Coincidence? How about the 5 former Patriots on the offensive staff? Don’t react to the game, research. Is Caserio a genius? That defense though! But, who coaches the defense? Whose staff developed those players from rookies , into stars? Who was at the draft choosing those players that fit the SWARM? The defense carrying this offense has shielded Caserio, until now. Look at the offense. How many draft busts? How many low rent offensive lineman? How many former Patriots? 5 years to build an offensive line, and he added 1 starter? He inherited Tytus. Nick Chubb, when you knew Mixon was done for the year? Here is the best part! Jake Andrews on 1 leg was better than either Juice or Patterson! 😂😂😂😂 Wake up, Like Darnold, Baker, Geno, and Mac Jones…..the GM failed to build around the QB to allow success. Also, we changed offenses in 24. Ever wonder why CJ threw 5 INT’s as a rookie , then Herbert threw 7 INT’s the year after? The coaches name is Shane Day. Result he left, offense changed, CJ regressed. Another coincidence?
He should be traded and add more chips for the team
Texans just needed competent QB play in the playoffs and they would have made it to the SB
Yes the Texans should absolutely trade him!! The Browns still need a QB. How about 3 1st rounders and a fully guaranteed contract for him.
No Fitzpatrick No….. You do sound crazy and I see why🤔🏈😂
Davis Mills is garbage too btw, career backup.
No. It was a step up with Davis Mills.
Plus if you get a rookie it is a gamble but you don't have that giant cap hit.
And replace him with who? Phillip Rivers?
It’s the coaching. Look at Baker and Darnold.
