So what does this mean then? Vooch isn’t that bad on PnR defense as long as Ayo is guarding the handler? I swear Vooch used to get targeted heaps on PnRs but maybe that’s also because the ball defender wasn’t good too.
Ayo’s growth is really promising. I don’t expect him to be a superstar or anything but love seeing his defense and scoring get better year on year.
This new NBA Jam lineup looks funny
Also 273 attempts on NAW + Okongwu is crazy. Are opponents like maybe it’ll work this time?
Are these the stats that AK is looking at to convince himself that the team doesn’t need a rebuild?
People keep conflating poor rim stopper with poor defense period. Vuc is horrible at stopping folks at the rim, and he’s not guarding anyone quick on the perimeter. He does, however play with intelligence, and has quick, active hands, helping him on PnRs. Notice that he’s one of the steals leaders among centers every year.
With Vuc, it’s a matter of putting him in positions to succeed. Asking him to be the last line of defense isn’t going to cut it. Put him with someone like Ayo or Okoro though? He’ll work guarding PnRs.
I be curious to see what Vuc and Coby combo looks like, prob the worst combo in the NBA
